Senior Specialist Drilling Engineer

Location:  Kuwait

 

Education:  University Degree in an appropriate engineering discipline.



Languages Required:  English written and oral.

Job Scope
  • Responsible for developing drilling, workover, completion, testing and stimulation programmes to utilize the most efficient and safe methods of drillingworkover.
  • Assists in directing critical drilling and workover operations.
  • Initiates projects and directs the work of other drilling engineers in a project team, provides functional guidance, reviews findings, makes recommendations, and discusses final report with supervisor. Such projects include data collection, the evaluation of current practices and standards of optimize efficiency and cost analysis, etc.
  • Conducts site visits to the drilling and W/O rigs to ensure accurate implementation of drilling/workover programs.
  • Undertakes studies and special projects, prepares evaluations and recommendations for developing and improving the drilling and completion equipment in operation.
  • Carries out well designs planned by assets.
  • Advises on and/or participates in routine and recurring investigations and projects such as the five year plan, future equipment requirements and group
  • Action Plan, etc. This includes the analysis of results and the preparation of appropriate recommendations for General Management's approval.
  • Assists in the preparation and review of the team capital/revenue expenditure budget.
  • Utilizes computer programmes and models for solving drilling problems. Keeps abreast of changing technology and develops new methods of problem solving.
  • Liaises with senior representative of the Ministry of Energy and consultants regarding progress of work and co-ordination of effort and adherence to
  • Conservation laws.
  • Plans and initiates tender process for the procurement of materials and services for development as well as exploration drilling operations. Recommends contract award to supervisor.
  • Participates in all kinds of operational/technical dialogue with the contractor and tries to resolve issues related to the services provided or yet to be provided.
  • Assists in drafting and periodic reviewing of drilling/workover and related service contracts. Ensures that the services listed in the documents confirm to standard oil field practices, evaluates technical specifications of bids and recommends contract award to supervisor.
  • Carries out vendor short list and/or pre qualification of service contracts.
  • Carries out other related duties such as deputizing for his supervisor during periods of absence, training and developing less experienced engineers and routine checking of contractor's invoices related to the jobs programmed by him or as referred, preparing departmental capital and EOR budget, cost analysis, etc. and preparing reports including Material Allocation and Damage Reports.

 Experience
  • 8 years experience in an oil drilling, workover and exploration environment.
