About the Job
Our client has a requirement for IT ANALYST for a 6 months contract opportunity. The position is located in Toronto, ON.

Role
The individual’s primary responsibility will be to acquire the technical expertise and balance it with business knowledge to support the subsequent applications, and provide support of the product.

Responsibilities
  • Provide end to end support from dev all the way to production environments, including after hour on-call duties.
  • Incident escalation point for both Level 1 application and infrastructure support teams.
  • Primary responsibility for incident resolution.
  • Implement application and infrastructure changes.
  • Capacity and security management
  • Must hold a range of broad knowledge of Unix/Linux server and be eager to learn how to support the business and understanding business requirements.
 
Requirements and Qualifications
Must Have
  • Min 5 yrs experience with Linux (Redhat, SUSE) advanced administration and server builds
  • 4-5 yrs of experience with Clustering – build, troubleshoot and support
  • Working knowledge with storage (ability to connect UNIX/Linux Servers to SAN storage and troubleshoot)
  • Practical hands on experience - troubleshooting UNIX/Linux, hardware issues and application issues
  • 5 yrs working knowledge and solid understanding of UNIX/Linux access fundamentals
  • 5 yrs Enterprise environment experience - working on large-scale projects
  • 5 yrs Project-based work and support-related experience
  • 5 yrs management of 100+ servers
  • 5 yrs of monitoring using HP SIM and/or other tooling
  • 3-5 yrs scripting knowledge
  • Design, build, test, and deploy Unix/Linux server solutions that involve best practice and are consistent with project objectives and client requirements.
  • Provide 2nd and 3rd level infrastructure support including on-call after hours support.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude while working with high demands and short deadlines
  • Demonstrates experience involving strong communications skills (written and verbal), proven ability to effectively interact with individuals across business units and at various levels within the Bank (technical, business, including Management).
  • Highly organized and possessing strong analytical skills
  • Highly adaptable with ability to work in a fast paced demanding environment
  • Must be team-oriented with ability to work well with multiple teams in a cross-functional setup
  • Self-motivated, with strong sense of ownership and urgency to deliver projects/tasks in a timely fashion
  • Must be able to effectively represent SSG on escalated incident management calls from operations
 
Support Skills
  • Balanced knowledge of business, application, server, and network technologies
  • Broad application, protocol, server, network diagnosis skills
  • Fluent with transaction & data flow through the system

Other Qualifications / Experience
  • Financial Services IT experience
  • Broad experience with IP networking concepts - routers, firewalls, etc
  • Teamwork - strong relationships with developers and business analysts, architecture & operations
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities
  • Effective time management skills and ability to work under deadlines and operational pressures
