Job Description
Our client has a requirement for a Technical Lead - Infrastructure for a permanent opportunity. The position is located in Toronto.

Role
Client Domain Technical Lead -Unix & Network -- here is a unique opportunity to be a part of the Client team. Reporting to a Manager of the Technologies and Infrastructure business unit, the chosen candidate will act as a senior system administrator on Linux and Solaris servers and will have the following responsibilities:

Responsibilities
  • Maintains a detailed technical understanding of GIS delivery within a specific area
  • Provides technical coaching expertise to enable the correct application of operational procedures and technologies
  • Contributes to the planning and implementation of maintenance and installation work through their technical knowledge
  • Identifies complex technical problems and contributes to their resolution
  • Resource capacity and scheduling, design, quality and metrics for corrective and enhancement delivery
  • Technical management and governance, measures and meets SLAs
  • Team adherence to process and procedures
  • Supervise maintenance and installation delivery
  • Ensure that operational problems are identified and resolved
  • Provide level-appropriate status and other reporting
  • Identify and propose operational, process and quality improvements
  • May require off hour support
 
Requirements or Qualifications
  • Strong Technical and Analytical Skills (Bell Network, VPN, Unix/Linux/WebLogic/DB [Oracle]) skills/ IT security concepts
  • A broad understanding of network, server and virtualization solutions from Cisco, Vmware, Oracle, NetApp
  • Understanding of ITIL methodologies with experience with the Incident, Problem, Change lifecycle
  • Technical skills will need to be sufficient to lead systems team in diagnosis of issues during

Soft Skills (these will be critical as client communication will be a requirement)
  • Tactful communicator with the ability to present/lead technical discussions with clarity and vigor
  • Good team player available to work under stressful circumstance
