Job Description
Our GTA client has a requirement for a Middleware Administrator for a 6 months contract located in Toronto.


The successful candidate must have:
  • Experience implementing Manhattan WMOS.
  • Experience implementing Manhattan SCI, LM, Slotting.
  • Websphere, version 7.1 or higher
  • HTTP Server
 The application administrator provides project delivery and ongoing support for 3rd party packaged software. Working closely with the project development group the application administrator ensures the seamless implementation of vendor packaged software into production through established best practices and custom configuration that meets clients' requirements. After project completion the application administrator ensures optimal day to day execution.

 The application administrator reports into the Technology Application Support team. The Technology Application Support team's focus is to ensure the smooth operation of 3rd party software and in-house developed applications. The business focus includes all corporate systems (examples: supply chain, marketing, finance, real estate, treasury, petroleum) and systems at the retail level (associate stores, gas bars, Partsource).


 Specific role accountabilities:
  • Tangible outcomes
  • Planning and installing applications and their patches into Client’s environments
  • The stable implementation of 3rd party packaged software that meets both clients’ requirements and meets or exceeds established SLAs.
  • Planning and managing upgrades, infrastructure changes, and/or application initiated changes
  • Ongoing maintenance and patch installations that ensure the supportability of applications. Database, OS level, and application version are all vendor supported.
  • Participation in the planning and implementation of configurable user initiated application changes
  • Implementation of new functionality to meet evolving business requirements.
  • Acting as an application administration lead on projects when required
  • Leadership and guidance on projects to advise IT partners and mentor junior members on the team.
  • Planning all activities that impact the application
  • An in-depth understanding of how 3rd party applications impact
  • Troubleshooting, problem/issue management and resolution for the applications
  • Minimum production downtime through problem resolution.
  • Production support for the applications - includes off-hours pager support
  • Sustaining 24/7 production support.
  • Application "production support" during the project lifecycle, including pager and off-hour support during specified project warranty periods
  • Support for all instances of the software package (Dev, QA, sandbox etc...) during the project lifecycle.
  • Optimization of applications' performance
  • Regular performance tuning to meet anticipated growth in usage and peak periods.
  • Where needed, developing processes and procedures to ensure consistency of operation
  • Documented processes that ensure all members of the team maintain a consistent approach to support and starting and stopping the applications.
  • Obtaining process buy-in from stakeholders
  • When necessary, building consensus from IT and business partners on processes and configurations unique to the 3rd party package in question.
  • College or University education in Computer Science or Business or Mathematics
  • A customer service attitude
  • A demonstrated advanced problem solving and issue resolution skills
  • Experience in AIX or UNIX system administration (3+ years)
  • Experience in UNIX shell scripting  (AIX version 4.3 and up is preferred)
  • Experience in supporting applications in UNIX and Wintel environments
  • Experience in administering IBM HTTP servers, IIS
  • Oracle database experience (2+ years)
  • Application server administration – WebSphere, Weblogic, Tomcat
  • The ability to work independently, and in a team environment, with many competing priorities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written and listening)
  • The ability to communicate in technical and non-technical terms
  • The ability to deal with ambiguity
  • Strong customer focus, and a "can do" attitude
  • A demonstrated ability to deliver to plans
  • A quick learning ability


Nice to Have:
  • Experience in the systems development life cycle

Oracle Database Administrator

Zylog Systems (Canada) Ltd. is currently seeking an Oracle Database Administrator (DBA).  Key responsibilities include:

DB Administration Activities:
1. Monitor and maintain the DB server and instances for all environments (Production, QA/REF, DEV, and Disaster Recovery).
2.Monitor and maintain the routine business cron jobs setup on the DB instances of various types, adjust them according to their usage.
3. Routinely refreshing non-production DB instances with Production DB data.


DB Programming Activities:
1. Provide Production Support, i.e., solve bugs reported about DB operations, extract data/reports according to business/customer requests, integrate with external customers through FTP/SCP file transfer to process batch job posting and other business processes using DB cron jobs calling stored procedures.  Most requests come in the form of issue tracking tickets opened by the Technical Support Team, Account Manager and Business Analyst.
2. Participate in the Design and Development of enhancement/customization requests.  Work with the BA and Developers to understand the new features. Work out the required DB changes including table changes, trigger changes, stored procedure/function changes, DB cron job changes, and create/maintain reports in the MS reporting server, loading translated content into DB.
3. Provide support for external customers running the Talentflow system, through their VPN connection.

DBA tasks can be performed relatively independently (Working closely with the IT Infrastructure Team).  However, the DB programming level tasks require working closely with the BA, Account Manager, Technical Support and lead Developer(s) to provide support/solutions both to the business and to the development team, on a daily basis. 

The opportunity will often present itself for the DBA to interact directly with the Customer to obtain specific requirements related to the database.  The DBA will work with a BA (Business Analyst) and PM (Project Manager) at the time of Business Requirements Gathering.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Certified as an Oracle DBA
  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 6 years of DBA working experience building, deploying and administering distributed Oracle database management systems
  • Sound knowledge of database auditing, audit logging, creating benchmark for audit points
  • Experience with database security and database encryption
  • Sound knowledge of users access and database privileges
  • Experience with deploying database security patches and remediation of database vulnerabilities.
  • Experience with installation, configuration and maintenance for 9i/10g/11g RAC and 10g/11g ASM
  • Experience with the building, configuring, monitoring, and implementation of Oracle DataGuard technology.
  • Good Database Programming experience in SQL and PLSQL
  • Programming experience in building and parsing the XML files
  • Experience in Data Migration tools and methodologies
  • Expertise in managing Oracle databases in Linux/Solaris Environments
  • Experience with UNIX shell scripting
  • Strong RMAN backup/recovery experience on very large databases
  • Strong skills in writing stored procedures/functions
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle performance analysis using Statspack, SQL tracing, etc.
  • Expert experience in troubleshooting and resolving urgent/critical incidents on production systems
  • Experience with performing back-up and recovery for both application tablespaces and catalogue table spaces
  • Comfortable with working in a rapidly changing, technically complex environment
  • Proficiency with MS office product suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
  • Excellent communication (both written and oral)
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Organized, such as the ability to plan project and deliver development work

Create marketing materials on demand, usually within short time lines utilizing the on-site agency. Contributing to the marketing deck and presenting programs to the team on a monthly basis.

About the Job
Our client within the financial services sector is looking for a Senior Developer to join their team.


Key Responsibilities
  • Mentor junior and intermediate team members in good coding practices and new technologies
  • Research and recommend technologies to the team and management
  • Design and program high-performance scalable applications and database solutions
  • Provide system design recommendations based on long-term IT organization strategy
  • Work closely with systems analysts and QA to develop alternative solutions to meet business needs
  • Review code committed by others as requested
  • Analyze production system problems and recommend workable solutions
  • Investigate and solve production problems with minimal to no guidance
  • Be aware of how and when new technologies should be used


Requirements or Qualifications
·  Degree or diploma in Computer Science or a related field
  • A strong technical background with high proficiency in .NET and C# and/or VB.NET with at least 5 years of relevant experience
  • A strong working knowledge of ADO.NET, Windows Communication Foundation (WCF)
  • A solid knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and Transact SQLwith at least 5 years of relevant experience
  • A working knowledge of XML and related technologies like XSD, SOAP, and WSDL
  • Hands on experience using testing frameworks (ie. NUnit, Visual Studio, xUnit, etc)
  • Experience of working as part of an agile team(an asset)
  • Experience with Team Foundation Server (an asset)

About the Job
Our client has a requirement for Project Leader / Level 2 for a 6 month contract opportunity.  The position is located in Toronto.


Responsibilities:
Lead the Development of OHRS standards for the Community Health Sector.  Responsibilities include:
• Manage direct resources and prioritize deliverables to ensure timelines are met.     
• Lead applicable Advisory Working Group and contribute to Steering Committee Presentations.
• Contribute to and assist in maintaining the implementation plan for Community Health Centres (CHC) adopting the OHRS/MIS-compliant financial/statistical software solution.
• Provide regular project updates, communicate and enable project team to achieve results; participate in engagement and milestone meetings with the project team and stakeholders, providing OHRS and financial/statistical software expertise.
• Provide subject matter expertise, with regards to accounting, financial and statistical software requirements, Community Health Centres and OHRS reporting, in the procurement process and throughout the implementation of an OHRS/MIS-compliant financial/statistical software solution to CHCs in Ontario.
• Monitor requests from organizations in analyzing needs for conversion of data from internal Chart of Accounts (COA) to OHRS based COA in the selected financial/statistical software solution.
• Communicate with end-users and project team regarding issues with software configurations or system performance to support OHRS compliance and financial and statistical business processes.
• Responsible for identifying and mitigating risks where possible, identify and communicate the escalation processes for any project related issues.
• Liaise with integration (business implementation) team to design, develop and implement OHRS reporting standards in financial and statistical software into individual CHCs.
• Oversee the development of individual User Acceptance Test plans for CHCs voluntarily adopting the software, ensuring that CHC business requirements are implemented in the software & can therefore be operationalized for daily usage.
• Research the sector using publically available information, sector materials and CHC materials such as sector documents, financial statements, websites etc. to identify requirements for the sector
• Conduct site visits to further project understanding of the sector, validating business and software requirements; identify gaps.
• Prepare project documentation related to site visits, including agenda, interview questions and trip reports
• Provide direction to team on supporting CHCs implementing a financial/statistical software solution and submission process using the new system.
• Working closely with the Project Mgr to coordinate project implementation activities
• Provide regular implementation updates to Project Manager.
• Facilitate the completion of all assigned action items.
• Contribute to the design and development of “Best Practice” business processes and information flows related to the sector organizations


Qualified Candidates will have:
 • 3+ years Project Leadership and/or management of resources
• Experience with use and/or implementation of financial and statistical systems and/or standards
• Accounting designation and/or accounting experience
• Not-for-profit accounting experience
• In depth knowledge of Ontario Healthcare Reporting Standards and Health care experience, CHC knowledge or experience is an asset
• Highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills
• Project leadership experience in one or more of the following areas:
   ◦Stakeholder engagement and management
   ◦Managing the implementation activities associated with large projects
   ◦Development of accounting related standards
   ◦Implementation of financial and statistical systems and/or financial and statistical standards
• In-depth knowledge of the Ontario Healthcare Reporting Standards
• Experience with the healthcare sector, preferably community care, with Community Health Centre experience considered an asset
• Accounting Designation (Chartered Accountant preferred) or 7 years of equivalent experience
• A solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).  Experience with accounting for not-for-profit orgs is considered an asset.
• Experience developing strong client relationships and understanding client perspective and needs
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
• Highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills
• A track record for meeting deadlines
• Ability to work in teams
• Experience with risk and issue management, resolution & escalation processes
• Project Management knowledge and experience
• Strong presentation and public speaking skills
• Experience leading diverse, multi-disciplined project teams in meeting project goals
