Job Description

Our client has a requirement for a Database Analyst/DBA – Senior for 10 month contract opportunity. The position is located in Toronto, ON

Responsibilities & Qualifications

• Installation, configuration, and management of Oracle 11i and R12 Applications database, application and web servers on UNIX and Windows environments
• Understand UNIX and Windows O/S and server virtualization. Must have Infrastructure experience to assist with hardware sizing, procurement of new hardware and stand up new environments at client locations
• Understanding of Oracle architecture and technology stack. Familiarity with multi-tiered topology using SSL and load-balancing is a definite benefit.
• Development of application support and infrastructure strategies, including instance, backup/recovery, security, migration, etc.
• Familiar with Oracle cloning techniques. Cloning using 3rd party tools such as Rapid Clone will be considered. Must be able to think outside the box to provide solutions such as hot clones using BCV’s.
• Ability to performance tune Oracle database and servers
• Provide best practices in the area of Oracle Apps Database Administration
• Experience with Oracle RMAN, Oracle Enterprise Manager and Grid Control, Oracle Database 11gR2, Database and Application server, and development tools such as TOAD will be considered
• High availability experience with RAC, Disaster Recovery, Storage Management using ASM and Oracle Application upgrades is an asset
• A full cycle implementation of Oracle Application in Financials, Manufacturing, CRM or HRMS is a definite plus. Must be able to manage relationship with client architects

 

 Key Responsibilities

• Monitoring of database environments
• Application tuning, database design changes, trouble-shooting, data migrations and application migrations and general database application designs.
• Responsible for applying database changes to multiple environments in support of the software development lifecycle.
• Use database productivity tools to perform database administration functions and automate processes when appropriate.
• Contribute to research and development of new technologies and setting directions.
• Contribute to the development of standards and guidelines.
• Responsible for database design and modeling of large, multi-user data/storage retrieval and data connectivity solutions -Thorough understanding/experience of database backup and recovery principles.

 

 Experience and Education Preferred:

• Undergraduate degree.
• More than 5 years of database analysis and administration experience.
• Awareness regarding context of best practice, industry-standard approaches.
