About the Job

Our client has a requirement for Programmer for a 7 months contract opportunity. The positions are located in Toronto.

Role

The Services and Deliverables to be provided by the (Level 2) Programmer/Developer include the following:

• Developing new reports, identifying trends within the context of the existing business objectives and timelines.
• Hands-on development experience delivering Excel PivotTable reports, based on business requirements and preparation of Sample Data Sources, Templates
• Working with the Client to review and outline detailed functional specifications and reports design documents as required for the new trend reports, including multiple revisions.
• Providing prototype reports for the user acceptance.
• Assessing and providing detailed specification for categorization of the reports from simple to complex.
• Collaborating with the business owners on the reports prioritization.
• Working with the Oracle and Power Builder Systems Analyst on specifications to provide data extracts for the Investigation and Licensing Units.
• Developing a testing and approval strategy.
• Working with the Project Manager to develop a delivery schedule.
• Providing effective knowledge transfer to Ministry staff at all stages of the assignment
• Providing consultation to other team members, as required.
• Performing any other related tasks as assigned by the Project Manager or Manager.

Requirements and Qualifications

• The candidate must be available to start work in accordance with the specified timeframe.
• This assignment will include/provide the following activities:
• The project will help to assist our Investigations and Licensing areas to make better use of the information they are collecting in the current application – the Consumer Affairs Tracking System (CATS)
• To date, the Data Visualizer has serviced over 100 custom report requests based on the inquiry and complaint data collected by the Consumer Services Bureau.
• The main business need includes several informative and performance-oriented reports for Investigations and Prosecutions Unit.
• The Data Visualizer can also be used to identify diagnostics on how to make the CATS application database a more effective tool for investigation tracking and reporting. A separate effort will create Licensing reports that will assist in the transformation work occurring in the Cemeteries Regulation Unit.
• The expected result is to have a complete Data Visualizer that covers the ability to easily report, track, and analyze data collected in the following CATS modules: Investigation/Prosecution, Inspection Tracking, Funeral, Burial and Cremation Services License Administration, Debt Recovery License Administration, Theatres License/Administration.

The candidate will be responsible for undertaking/providing the following:


Deliverable 1
Working with the Client to review and outline detailed functional specifications and report design documents as required for the new trend reports. Submitting revisions to reports as dictated by feedback of stakeholders.

Deliverable 2

Collaborating with business owners on report prioritization. Working with the Project Manager to develop a delivery schedule.

Deliverable 3

Providing consultation to other team members as required, and communicating with staff throughout the assignment.

Deliverable 4

Working with IT Cluster staff who manages the Oracle and Power Builder Systems on specifications of data extracts for Investigation and Licensing Units.
