Our client has a requirement for a Business Intelligence Specialist L2 for a 4 month contract opportunity. The position is located in Toronto.

Role
- Develop code for the data mart front end
- Develop reports
- Unit Testing, providing information to Testers and other team members
- Working closely with the other developers, Data Modellers, Testers and BA
- Troubleshoot and problem fix defects
- Participating in meetings, providing regular and ad-hoc status reports

- Design, Build (i.e. Develop code, Unit Test and related documentation) and complete deployment packages including related documentation to fulfil business requirements for MPI
- Document all changes to the MPI carried out for review and approval by the Client
- Prepare the Deployment Guide for deployment to production in the format required by the Client
- Review all application design decisions pertaining to the Application with the Client staff before proceeding to make changes
- Work with the Business Analyst to ensure requirements are fully understood and complete, design and ensure implemented solution fulfils requirements.
- Work with the Client technical staff to identify performance or availability issues and provide solutions for the Application
- Support resolving day to day programming issues
- Assist in code and design reviews
- Provide improvements, changes or Defect Fixes identified during Quality Assurance (QA) Testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) of the Application and Application enhancements
- Provide systems designs and program code which conform to Client Cognos BI Coding Standards and to Client Project Interface Design
- Obtain Client application architect approval for all Application program code changes
- Revise relevant Application documentation, as determined by the Cluster.
- Complete work and achieve milestones within the assigned deadlines
- Notify the Cluster/Ministry project Manager in writing of any issues or other material concerns related to the Assignment Deliverables, as soon as the he/she becomes aware of them
- Submit Deliverables for the Cluster/Ministry approval as they are completed
- Comply with the Ontario Government and the Cluster/Ministry security procedures and practices
- Comply with Public Sector architecture/technology standards and best practices;
- Comply with the Public Sector Conflict of Interest and Confidentiality Guidelines;
- Provide knowledge and skill transfer to a designated Cluster/Ministry staff and comply with the Ontario Government I&IT Directive, Operational Policy on the I&IT Project Gateway Process, and other applicable Guidelines, Standards and Procedures
Requirements
- 5 or more years of experience as a BI Specialist
- Experience with Cognos 8.4.1/10.2: Framework Manager, Report Studio, Query Studio, Analysis Studio
- Experience with developing Framework Manager metadata model development, Report Studio Development, and administration for deployment purposes
- Experience with Oracle SQL and PL/SQL
- Working knowledge of ETL mappings and workflows using PowerCenter solutions: Designer, Workflow Manager, Workflow Monitor, Repository Manager
- Experience with OLTP and OLAP data modeling
- Experience in understanding and updating UML based design documents.
- Experience with developing monitoring and error notification processes to ensure data is updated as designed.
- Demonstrated skills and experience as BI Specialist in application design, development and implementation project
- Experience with the development of common utility components
- Experience in contributing to large, complex, IT system development and implementation projects
- A team player with a track record for meeting deadlines
- Experience in the development of distributed applications
- Demonstrated skills and experience with presentation and server-side frameworks and SQL
- Cognos 8.4/10.2.1
- Web development experience, including HTML, JavaScript
- Experience with Informatica 8/9/9.5: Power Centre, Metadata Manager
- Experience developing ETL mappings and workflows using the PowerCenter solutions: Designer, Workflow Manager, Workflow Monitor, Repository Manager
- Experience with OLAP analysis and design
- Experience with Oracle SQL schemas and PL/SQL procedures, packages and Functions
- Demonstrated familiarity with systems development for OPS program areas
- Experience within the OPS in projects of a similar nature
- Demonstrated analytical and communication skills
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision making skills; excellent English language verbal and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills and
- Experience in Cognos/Informatica reviews.
