Job Description
Our client has a requirement for a Programmer Analyst for a Permanent opportunity. The position is located in Mississauga.

Role
The primary purpose of this position is to troubleshoot and correct application system issues, maintain accurate and up to date system documentation, analyze business requirements, develop new business application features and support daily operations, in accordance with the company’s operational standards and policies.
 
Responsibilities
The following is a list of the duties and responsibilities associated with the position at hand. The tasks and time spent performing each task may vary depending on certain circumstances and business needs.
  • Respond to and resolve user issues with application software.
  • Provide training assistance to users.
  • Maintains systems through upgrades, daily system monitoring and provides end user assistance.
  • Maintain up to date technical documentation/standards of applications such as data models, process descriptions, and functional specifications.
  • Ensure standards and procedures for database design, application standards, and change management are followed.
  • Analyze and document user requirements and propose alternatives.
  • Analyze functional requirements to identify information, procedures and decision flows.
  • Prepare statement of impact, estimate and schedule for system changes and enhancements, obtain user sign-off.
  • Plan, direct and manage the implementation of system changes and enhancements.
  • Perform prototyping, program specifications, programming and testing activities.
  • Maintain and enforce all related IT procedures and standards.
  • Provides on call, after hours support as required.
  • Assist in IT infrastructure projects, budgeting, and implementations.
 
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Fast-paced environment in a dynamic competitive industry.
  • Exposure to environmental conditions such as noise, air conditioning, dirt, etc,
  • Often required to deal with multi faceted individuals and numerous interruptions.
  • May need access to different areas of the office or manufacturing facilities.
  • Require a valid Driver’s License and have a vehicle available to travel to other sites/branches in Ontario or the U.S.
  • May require a valid Passport and be allowed to travel into the U.S., Mexico or other countries.
  • May be subject to extended periods of typing.
  • May need to perform some heavy lifting computers, printers, and server.

Requirements or Qualifications
  • Minimum 4 years University degree in Computer Science program or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years programming and analysis experience
  • Knowledge of Relational Databases (Microsoft SQL Server), Visual Studio .Net, Visual Basic, C#, IIS, ASP, SQL Server Reporting Services, System Design Life Cycle, Microsoft desktop products, PC applications, basic computer hardware and Internet technologies.
