Deliverables

• Experience in structured methodologies for the identification of user requirements and the development of specifications.

RESPONSIBITLITIES:

The lead layout provides support to the lead mechanical engineer or the engineering manager and is responsible for all activities related to the physical arrangement of the equipment and commodities within the boundary of the project site. The layout of the facilities, equipment and commodities, are developed by the layout team until the design is advanced enough to allow the functional groups to begin their own designs.

The success of the role is directly related the individual’s ability to develop and define the scope of work, deliverables required, layout of the facilities with consideration to safety, constructability, maintainability and operation.

JOB DUTIES:

• Participate in project kick-off meeting(s) and site visit(s) as required.
• Develop the engineering work packages (EWP’s) for all activities specific to layout and general arrangement development.
• Prepare man-hour budgets for all deliverables and time related activities related to the layout group.
• Prepare the deliverables list for the work to be performed by the group (general arrangements, models, studies, etc.)
• Prepare and issue for approval the project specific layout design criteria.
• Define and develop the overall site plot plan based on the project and discipline requirements.
• Coordinate directly with Client representative(s) in all matters related to layout.
• Develop the facility layout(s) of all equipment/commodities to the point where each functional group can effectively begin their design.
• Review, coordinate and approve all layout changes.
• Define, in collaboration with the design coordinator, the model volumes to be used
• Develop, produce and coordinate Area specific general arrangements and 3d models as required.
• Ensure clash detection and resolution is applied at appropriate points during the design process.
• Participate in project design, maintainability and constructability reviews.
• Assign work (via signed-off EWP’s) to layout designers and continuously monitor progress and quality of general arrangements.
• Manage personnel accordingly to respect the man-hour budget including approval of personnel timesheets on a weekly basis.
• Review, check and approve all facility layouts and general arrangements to ensure conformity to the project specific layout design criteria.
• Ensure 3D ERS reporting and 2D deliverable reporting is maintained on a regular basis. Monitor design progress and develop corrective actions if required.
• Ensure relevant technical experts are involved in the design process as required. Facilitate the sharing of technical expertise across projects.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Essential

• 10+ years plus experience, depending on project size.
• Previous layout experience on the type of facility being executed.
• Experience with working on a major project in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
• Good understanding of maintainability, constructability, safety and operating issues related to the equipment.
• Good understanding of inter-discipline dependencies in a project environment.
• Strong ability to analyze consequences of layout changes and prioritize best solutions as design progresses.
• Good organizational skills and ability to manage individuals to attain quality, cost and schedule objectives.
• Strong leadership and coordination skills.
• Well developed communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.

Desirable

• A high degree of understanding of construction methodologies.
• A high degree of understanding of commissioning methodologies.
• Extensive experience in the use of procedures and workflows in the execution of projects.
• Reasonable experience in the application of design systems for the discipline that support a 3D, datacentric design environment.

·         N-tiered Datacenter design;

·         IT Design Methodologies;

·         Experience with Ontario Government IT practices, standards, policies, etc...

About the Job

Our client has a requirement for a Technical Writer for a 3 month contract opportunity.  The positions are located in Burnaby, BC.

Responsibilities

Design, coordinate and write technical documentation and user guides. Design, write and illustrate documents like user guides/SDK documentation (for external customers) and process/product requirements/API specifications (for internal customers). Plans, creates, writes and maintains customer and product documentation.

Requirements or Qualifications

Qualified Candidates will have:

• Bachelor's degree in English, Communication, technical writing, Computer Science, MIS or Engineering or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Documentation control and management experience.
• Documentation experience in a software or technical services organization is required.
• Ability to adhere to a formal style guide and standardized templates. Excellent English writing skills. Must provide writing samples.
• Excellent research, analytical, and communication skills.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Excellent knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office. Good knowledge of C# and Java development. Strong command of the English language.
• Visio, RoboHelp, FrameMaker, Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat & Distiller, Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, Web 2.0

About the Job

Our client has a requirement for a Systems Administrator (Linux Servers and SAN) to fill a Permanent opportunity located in the GTA

The System Administrator is accountable for all aspects of the following tasks;

• Responsible for server infrastructure support and maintenance (Linux Ubuntu/Red Hat/SuSe)
• Provide MS Windows server support
• Create technical documentation for IT processes/procedures and user tech tips. 

Key Responsibilities

• System Admin support to local/remote server infrastructure
• Install, support and maintain various types of Linux servers with different functions. (OS & application)
• Perform and Verify System Backups, develop future Linux Infrastructure strategy
• Manage and Support VMWare environment
• Create and maintain system administration documents
• Assist with IT/IS maintenance intervals 

Requirements or Qualifications

• 3‐4 years work‐related experience
• Strong Knowledge Apache, PHP, MySQL VMWare, NFS, BIND, MYSQL, SAN, JBOSS
• Post secondary education in Computer Networking and/or Systems Support
• Knowledge of Microsoft 2xxx Server architecture such as roles, networking and etc
• Knowledge of Microsoft’s Active Directory 2003 & 2008
• Knowledge of MS Office suites of applications
• Knowledge of server hardware (SCSI & SATA Hard drives, Raid controllers, NIC, CPU’s)
• Knowledge of SAN/NAS storage systems is an asset
• Knowledge of VMWare ESX Servers is an asset
• Extremely organized with good attention to detail and excellent analytical skills
• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
• Multi‐tasking skills and the ability to prioritize required work
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Support 24x7x365 data center operations
• A positive attitude with creative thinking and willingness to attempt a wide variety of tasks
• Must be able to function effectively in a results oriented, fast‐paced, deadline driven environment

Sr Consultant - IT PMO

Our client has a requirement for Sr. Consultant IT-PMO for an 18 month contract opportunity.  The position is located in Toronto.

Requirements or Qualifications

You will have successfully developed and implemented a consistent and standardized I & IT project management methodology including defining standards and guidelines for project management and reporting based on best practices.  Experience must include setting up and running two enterprise level IT Project Management Offices in a mid- to large-sized firm (Setting up and running a Program Management Office for a $100 million initiative may be substituted for one enterprise PMO leadership role). You will have a minimum of 5+ years of hands-on IT project management in a mid- to large-sized company, leading enterprise projects or programs over $30 million.

Qualified Candidates will have:

• University degree in one of the following Computer Science, Engineering or Business Administration. Technical qualification in project management (PgMP, PM Masters, PMP or PRINCE2 Practitioner certification) is required.
• Additional certification in CGEIT (Certificate in the Governance of Enterprise IT), CMMi, ITIL, or other IT-related discipline would be an asset.
• Experience with enterprise IT organizations that support multiple business teams, and that compete for IT resources. Has operated a program and project governance framework and overseen project gating. Has demonstrated capabilities to ensure proper approval process, methods, standards and project management best practices are consistently applied and tracked. Has applied effective governance for externally managed I&IT projects
• Knowledge and understanding of enterprise project management and collaboration tools such as MSFT Project Server, Clarity, Ecosys Enterprise, Aconex an asset.
