Our client has 1 requirement for a User Experience Specialist for a 12 month opportunity.  The position is located in Toronto, Ontario. 


Work Description:

The User Experience Specialist  will assist Strategic Communications and the   Web Competency Centre in bringing client website content into   a new website design using the client's web content management platform.   Project activities are already underway and focus on phased implementations   for managing and displaying site content using Open Text Web Experience   Management (formally Vignette) and Open Text's Dynamic Portal module for   third party portals (DPM3PP) integrating with IBM Web Sphere Portal.

 The User Experience Specialist is responsible for identifying the user   audiences for client's website; assessing user requirements, needs and satisfaction   levels; creating and testing user interface designs, prototypes and   specifications across multiple platforms and browsers; designing and   conducting usability tests at various stages of the development process;   analyzing the results of these tests and making recommendations to improve  design and functionality; developing and publishing usability guidelines to   provide developers with tools in the design process; and creating, promoting   and supporting a corporate standard for usability excellence.
Responsibilities: 
  •   Managing, documenting and analyzing requirements   to translate business needs and requirements into engaging and compelling   on-line experiences
  •   Managing and leading stakeholder and user testing   of design concepts and managing user acceptance testing of proposed sites and   interfaces. This will include the developing of the user testing schedule and   test

Job Description
The Land Command Systems Support, Engineering and Integration Support Contract (LEISC), provides In-Service Support for radio and command and control systems for the Canadian Forces Army.  The LEISC Program Team provides Engineering cognizance; maintains Test and Integration Facilities; provides Repair and Overhaul services; and Program Management services as tasked by our customer.  
PURPOSE OF POSITION 
As part of the Field Support Services (FSS) Team, the successful candidate will be embedded within Army National Operations Centre (ANOC) in Ottawa ON to support a suite of High Assurance Guards (HAGs) that enable the secure transmission of information between different security domains.  The HAGs consist of hardware and software providing information transfer for e-mail (SMTP), chat (XMPP), MIP DEM (PDU/XML), imagery, and web services (RDP).  The successful candidate will focus on the administration, operation and maintenance of these guards and must be prepared to assist DND personnel at any hour of the day or night as may be required.  
TYPICAL DUTIES 
Typical tasks would include but not limited to:
  • Manage, maintain, administer, configure, monitor, control and troubleshoot all HAG-related hardware and software, including client software or hardware installations.
  • Liaise with ANOC support, in-theatre support and the NESS for any issues related to the LCSS CAN/US or LCSS-I instances.
  • Provide remote helpdesk support to users.
  • Monitor, coordinate, analyze and record comments, observations and critical feedback from the DND staffs and provide a written report when required.
  • Perform regular updates and backup activities.
  • Dispatch problems to appropriate personnel resources.
  • Create and conduct tests or demonstrations.
  • Configure workstations, servers, guards and ancillary devices (e.g. intrusion detection systems, firewalls)
  • Update deployment manuals/ guides
  • Provide feedback to development teams
    • Provide training and mentoring to turn over the HAG to a DND employee (military or public servant) 
  • EDUCATION 
    • Have a diploma, certificate or civilian qualification from a recognized post secondary institution or equivalent military qualification related to Information Technology.
    • Possess a current CCNA Certification and an advanced understanding of the networking components of LCSS that impact the operational use of CDS and the HAGs
    • Have an understanding of the Army environment and structures (e.g., Army organizations, Army command and staff structures, Army rank structure and the Army technical reporting chain).   
    EXPERIENCE 
    It is mandatory that the candidate have at least ten years Military support experience and have recent work experience in LCSS System.  Fluency in both written and spoken English and French is required. 
    The successful candidate should be:
    • A minimum 5 years military experience at a Senior NCO/Officer level.
    • Have a minimum of one (1) year of direct experience in providing system management and/or information management support to the Land Forces in force generation or training activities or equivalent experience
    • Have a minimum of three (3) years of related Information Technology experience in a Microsoft Windows Server/Client support environment. 
    OTHER 
    The successful candidate must be eligible to hold Canadian SECRET clearance

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The Electrical Startup Engineer will be assigned systems on the project for which he will have full responsibility for commissioning.  This will require coordinating with mechanical, instrumentation and control systems disciplines within the startup organization to complete all required testing from component level through integrated operation with the rest of the facility.

Job Description
  • The main focus of this assignment will be to commissioning the 4 kV electrical equipment, variable frequency drives (VFDs) and programmable logic controller (PLC) controls associated with the upgrading of the heater drain pumps in each unit.  There are 3 pumps per unit.
  • Development of documentation for system testing and turnover including scoping of drawings and SetRoute as required.  Prepare test packages associated with the modification scope;
  • Develop test plans as required to support engineering change package submittal.
  • Prepare, award and administer specialty subcontracts as required to support commissioning activities (i.e.: meter and relay calibration, etc.).
  • Provide assistance to the client’s training organization to include material required to update O&M training materials for the modification.
  • Prepare system preoperational test procedures for assigned systems.  Complete testing per STCP’s, SWPP’s, Preop procedures and other specific procedures which may be required to be prepared in this position.  Complete all test records, data sheets, etc. to fully document testing activities.
  • Coordinate with and provide direction to supplier Technical Assistants to complete commissioning of vendor supplied equipment.  Monitor supplier TA activities to ensure proper charging of TA time (i.e.:  ensure company is not charged for TA time spent addressing the vendor’s own issues).  Plan work accordingly and control the expenditure of TA time to stay within the budget constraints for each PO.
  • Prepare FCD/RFI/NCR/DR’s as required to document as-built conditions and/or properly resolve deficiencies.
  • Supervise field non-manual personnel as required to perform assigned tasks.
  • Supervise field manual craft as required to perform assigned tasks; monitor and control craft performance and be accountable to the performance factor as reported by the QURR.
  • Participate in system turnover walkdowns, both Construction and Client turnovers; initiate, track and resolve punchlist items for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Work hours as required, including shiftwork, overtime, weekends and holidays as necessary to support the project.
  • Perform other duties as directed in support of project activities.
  • Expected assignment duration is approximately 12 months at the jobsite near MN, USA. The individual will be put on a different project following this. The project is an extended power uprate (EPU) of 2 Westinghouse PWR units.

Analyzes user needs, and then designs, tests, and develops software Education/Experience: Bachelors degree in computer science, software engineering or relevant field required. 5+ years experience required Skills and Competencies: Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills. Ability to work independently and manage one’s time. Basic mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback. Knowledge of the full software development lifecycle: from business/systems analysis, through requirements gathering and functional specification authoring, to development, testing and delivery. Ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve issues. Knowledge of computer hardware and software. Knowledge of computer development software across multiple platforms. Major Job Duties and Responsibilities: Modify existing databases and database management systems or direct programmers and analysts to make changes. Write and code logical and physical database descriptions and specify identifiers of database to management system or direct others in coding descriptions. Work as part of a project team to coordinate database development and determine project scope and limitations. Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project. Perform other duties as assigned
