About The Job

Our client has a requirement for Implementation Specialist for a 6 months contract (possibility for permanent) opportunity. The positions are located in Ottawa.

Our software is built using the following technology mix:

• Ruby on Rails running in a J2EE container
• Linux distro tailored for kiosk use
• jQuery plus HTML and CSS
• SVG

Role

We're seeking a Ruby on Rails developer who's up for the challenge of leading new product development in the growing healthcare IT field. Our process features (a) agile / Scrum, (b) extensive testing at developer and integration level, and (c) code review. As a small company we're still working at improving our overall development process.

 

Responsibilities and Qualifications

• Experience deploying to live systems and real practical experience with some/all of the following:
• Ensure database integrity, stability and system availability
• DBA for Ontario Ministry of Health, Financial Accountability web enterprise application
• Respond to ministry and client requirements regarding the operation of web application
• Write Ruby, JRuby and SQL scripts for changes, updates and modification of database
• Coordinate with Software Development Team regarding modifications to applications
• Install software, configure databases and prepare Customer Sites
• Write and maintained Documentation for the client’s suite of products

In addition to technical expertise above we're looking for someone who is

• Comfortable with new challenges
• Understands the Unix philosophy and applies it every day
• Writes tests for code goes without saying
• Belief in what we're doing and has the "get things done" work ethic to turn that into reality

This is a Mid-Senior level position but we're relaxed about years of experience as long as you have a proven passion for creating awesome products.
