Our client has a requirement for an Oracle DBA for 6 month Contract. The position is located in Scarborough, Ontario

Role:

Our Financial Services client is looking for an Oracle DBA to join his group. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating changes to computer databases, test and implement the database applying knowledge of database management system and for planning, coordinating and implementing security measures to safeguard the computer database

 

Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Test programs or databases, correct errors and make necessary modifications.
• Modify existing databases and database management systems.
• Work as part of a project team to coordinate database development and determine project scope and limitations.
• Write and code logical and physical database descriptions and specify identifiers of database to management system.
• Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

 

 

Qualification:

• Oracle 10 & 11 & 12 (RAC and DataGuard are not crucial)
• Shell scripting in Solaris/Linux
• MS SQL Server
• Good communication skills
• Team oriented
• Associates degree in computer programming or relevant field required. Bachelor degree preferred.
• Entry level to 2 years experience required.

 

Skills and Competencies:

• Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage one’s time.
• Knowledge of computer software, such as SQL, Oracle, etc.
