 Job Description:
 
Our client has a requirement for a UG NX Tool Designer for a 6 month contract opportunity.  The position is located in Toronto. 
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Design moulds, tools, dies, jigs, fixtures and gauges for use in manufacturing processes. 
  • Prepare and interpret conventional UG NX engineering designs, drawings and specifications for machine components, tools, dies, fixtures, jigs and gauges. 
  • Update all current production drawing updates. 
  • Inspect mechanical installation and manufacturing of parts. 
  • Resolve all tool engineering issues and concerns. 
  • Participate in program reviews as deemed necessary for technical support. 
  • Participate in contract reviews for production support. 
  • Coordinate any design reviews with the appropriate employees. 
  • Prepare project schedules and reports for all new tool designs. 

 
Qualified Candidates will have:  
 
  • Education background in mechanical engineering.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with good attention to detail.
  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing and order processes.
  • Experience in automotive & aircraft manufacturing industry is essential.
  • Extensive understanding of machining processes (turning / milling), fixtures and materials.
  • Extensive knowledge in manufacturing complex assemblies and components.
  • Strong computer skills are essential.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in manufacturing industry.
  • CAD/PLM proficiency in UG NX, Team Center Engineering  is mandatory
  • Past experience in Automotive Injection Molding required
  • Past experience working for Large Automotive OEM a plus (GM or FORD)
  • Modify existing product designs in accordance with established engineering specifications.
  • Work closely with engineers to improve designs that can be economically produced
  • The candidate will be able to work with flexibility, while maintaining high standards and quality work.
  • The applicant must have excellent English communication skills; must be well organized; able to work independently while maintaining close contact at all times with his/her immediate supervisor.
  • The candidate will be capable of working in a fast paced environment. Proficiency in the use of drafting software, and other standard office software is a must.
  • Experience in the industrial sector will be an asset. The successful candidate will foster an environment that generates professionalism, technical excellence, accuracy and timeliness.
  • Degree or Diploma, plus relevant experience working as a Senior designer
  • Must be able to work well within a team environment.
  • Must possess strong communication skills and good attitude.
  • Must be able to demonstrate effective organizational skills.
  • Project management skills are welcomed
  • Additional CAD (Catia V5 and I-des NX) and other vehicle systems design capabilities are an added bonus
