Job Description:
Our client has a requirement for Sr. Client Server Developer Lead - C#, .Net,PowerBuilder for a 4 months contract opportunity. The position is located in Toronto, ON.
ROLE SUMMARY:
Within the Business Solutions Delivery - Supply Chain and Administration Development department, the Senior Client Server Developer is part of a team working with different stakeholders in IT to develop, and implement solutions that meet business objectives. The Senior Client Server Developer's core service is to take on the role of the Development Lead ensuring tasks and timelines are met and also undertake detail design, develop program code, test and implement systems based on the business requirements and high level design. The Senior Client Server Developer will lead the development activities of another client server developer and work in partnership with the Business super users, Project team members, and software vendors for packaged applications on all phases of the project life cycle.
The Senior Client Server Developer combines business and technology skills with strong communication, planning, and organizational skills. Using proven methods and tools, he/she is accountable for delivering excellent quality results, according to agreed upon time-lines and within budget. He/she converts the high level design to detail design specifications, identifies and documents the unit processes; He/she plans and executes the development, testing and validation activities to ensure that the results meet the design specifications - in partnership with the Project manager, Business Analyst, Test Lead, Business Stakeholders, IT Development team members and Integration Architecture team members.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Senior Client Server Developer to lead the detail design, development, testing and implementation for converting an existing application (developed in Power Builder) to a C# .NET application.
Senior Client Server Developer with ability to develop technical solutions according to high level specifications, and document detail design solutions.
Understand and follow the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process.
Produce concise and understandable documentation during the development phases of the project.
Provide work plan reporting to Project Managers.
Write program enhancements according to client's technical standards
Develop, maintain, debug, test, and document system components.
Participate and plan detail checklist for the implementation stage of large systems and projects
Execute the Change Management process according to client's standards
Troubleshoot and enhance systems
Ensure all assigned deliverables are completed as per plan, on schedule, on budget, and with quality
Ensure all appropriate testing is comprehensive, accurate and is completed according to plans
Ensure all reported variances are addressed, and issues are resolved
Participate in periodic code reviews and walk-through
Ensure all deliverables reflect an effective use of technology with regard to performance and conform to IT-PMO standards
Ensure all documentation is accurate, clear and complete
Keep Project Manager, and Functional Manager up to date on progress.
Provide warranty support.
Investigate and resolve production incidents in a timely manner.
Assist in training of Support and/or Operations staff when handing over system support from project warranty to on-going support
Build stakeholder trust by understanding business concepts, issues, opportunities and language
Contribute to a non-siloed collaborative team environment by information sharing and team cooperation
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of 10 years experience in a Senior Client Server Developer lead role in a project based environment
Proficiency in the following technical skills:
C# .Net 2.0
SQL Server Database 2008
.Net Web Services
SQL Server Integration Services
CSLA.Net framework and Microsoft Enterprise Library
Power Builder
Oracle 11g
Understanding of the Supply Chain processes.
University Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
Solid work experience in development of Multi-tier business applications
Fluent in technology and strong knowledge of software development methodologies/techniques
Strong technical design, critical thinking and problem solving skills
Superior communication skills - written and oral
Ability to multi-task and work on multiple projects at the same time and under tight deadlines
Ability to navigate ambiguity, overcome confusion and simplify complex situations
