Job Description:
 
Our client has a requirement for Project Manager Niche - Capital Markets for a 6 month contract opportunity.  The position is located in Toronto, Ontario. 
 
Requirement or Qualifications:
 
We are looking for a strong Project Manager Niche - Capital Markets with at least 5 years hands-on market risk experience, Basis Trading and Project Delivery Experience. Capital market experience is a must. Please submit ONLY candidate willing to go CONTRACT TO FULL TIME opportunity. This individual will coordinate systems development for major applications (market risk or trading risk), define project requirements including information and data needs, business analysis and programming. Develop, plan, analyze, evaluate and assign priorities to deliverables and requirements. Define project phases, set deadlines and manage staff. Develop project plans with milestones. Coordinate all meeting and interface with business units, staff and service providers.
* Accountable for delivery of Tier 1/Tier2 Projects within FX/Rates portfolio.
* Consistently applies project management methodology, ensuring that recognized project management processes, discipline and controls are consistently applied to projects
* Ensures compliance to client's project management methodology by ensuring that recognized project management processes, discipline and controls are consistently applied to projects
* Responsible for developing project documentation as agreed to by the Project Sponsor and involved Stakeholders
* Builds strong relationships across stakeholder and technology teams.
* Identifies all project dependencies and risks, ensuring that they are effectively managed
* Ensures mitigation/contingency plans are in place for identified risks
* Executes project management deliverables within budget and as per the approved project plan, working with impacted stakeholders to develop the content of those deliverables
Key accountabilities are:
* Develops an understanding of the technical/business aspects of the project in order to effectively manage the project and resources
* Sets direction at an operational level, works autonomously in the management of the unit and collaborates with other business heads to establish and execute on common goals.
* Direct or manages large-scale applications, programs or projects across multiple product lines, involving significant scope and complexity. Ensures delivery of projects to the business partner, meeting the approved scope/cost/schedule/quality for the project.
* Perform a governing role for, ensuring that the proposal, execution, control, deployment, training and hand off, warranty support, and closure meet promised schedules.
* Performs risk identification and mitigation activities, escalating unresolved issues to the Executive and / or Steering Committee where appropriate to secure their timely decisions/support.
* Manages the acquisition and deployment of resources, including budget, by working with the Project Managers to secure the resources required for the project.
* Ensures client satisfaction with the project process and project team by effective and timely communication including status reporting, continual risk/issue assessment/management and escalation, and resolution of issues as they arise.
* The successful candidate will be required to work with and influence senior level leaders and partner with other IT Managers.
Experience and Knowledge:
* Standard level of previous experience is 8 years as a project manager, 10+ years of IT industry experience
* University Degree in business or computer sciences.
* Experience with capital markets or wealth management projects with any of Fixed Income, Foreign Exchange, Derivatives, Equities, or Risk/Credit Management is a definite asset.
* Exposure to Front office derivatives is must have and exposure to Trading risk (market risk) is good to have.


Skill:
* Proven leadership skills and experience managing large and complex IT projects.
* Full life cycle development experience.
* Experience with proven project methodology tools.
* Expertise in MS Project, Excel, Visio and Powerpoint.
