Job Description:

Our client has a requirement for Bus Systems Analyst III for a 6 months contract opportunity. The positions are located in Toronto.

Department Overview: Valuation Services Reporting Team, which is the reporting arm of Valuation Services Groups, implements and Supports Market Risk and Credit Risk reporting applications. Our team focuses primarily on key Risk areas like Market Risk trading polices, Valuation Reserves, PNL and PNL Attribution, VAR and VAR Attribution and Credit Risk Reporting. Our main clients are Trading Risk Services (Middle office) and Treasury Credit Group.

Job Description:

As a System Analyst you will work within a technology team to perform a liaison function between the business side of the enterprise and the technology team to write technical requirements. Combining your superior technology and securities knowledge with highly developed written and oral communication skills, you will work to understand business requirements around Market Risk Reporting systems and work closely with Technology group to create System Requirements specification document. You will also be responsible for systems testing, and will coordinate the business acceptance testing process.

Responsibilities:

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Write system requirement specification (SRS) or technical specifications , data flow documents by analyzing and clarifying Business Requirement Document (BRD)
- Review and understand business requirement documents (BRD) to identify requirements gaps by liaison between the business and the development team.
- Work closely with development team to understand application functionality, framework, components, application architecture…etc to be able to create technical/system document with guidance from the tech lead .
- Work with business clients to elicit, analyze, communicate and validate requirements for changes to business processes, business policies and information systems.
- Investigate and analyze problems, including the use of change impact analysis on all systems and business areas in order to identify business impact.
- Analyze source system feeds (i.e Calypso, WSS, Murex, Summit…etc) and database results to identify business logic/requirements gaps.
- Maintain on-going communication with all stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Conduct unit, regression and integrated system testing.
- Participate in user training and manage the business acceptance testing phase.
- Deliver based on project objectives and on timelines.

Education/Accreditations:

- A post-secondary academic degree in computer science or Mathematics, or other quantitative discipline

Must Haves

- 5 years of work experience in the job of Business Analyst/Business Systems Analyst
- 5 years of writing system requirement, system specification, data flow documents...etc
- 3-5 years of experience in analysing and querying complex data using Access, SQL Server and Excel with sound understanding of database concepts.
- 3-5 years of experience in financial institutions focusing on reporting applications.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Proficiency in Excel, for in-depth data analysis to validate business rules and identify special cases.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills.
- Highly developed analytical and logical reasoning skills.
- Excellent time management and priority management skills.
- Flexible and willing to take on new projects/roles, to learn new skills, and to contribute to the team’s success in a variety of capacities.
- Self-starter with the ability to multi-task effectively and independently within a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to gauge the appropriate level of priority and detail and/or effort required on any given project.
- Understanding of financial products /Securities

Nice to Have
- Understanding of Market risk operations and reporting
- Familiarity with market risk metrics
- CSC or similar certification
- Experience with medium to large scale IT application implementations. Applications should be related to Risk Reporting or Trading system reporting or Payment and settlement systems.
- Familiarity with various trading systems
