Job Description:
 
Our client has a requirement for Business Analyst (with Business Intelligence experience) for a 6 monthcontract opportunity.  The positions are located in Toronto, Ontario. 
 

Requirement or Qualifications
 
Our client is looking for a strong process and detail-oriented individual with excellent communication and negotiation skills to elicit, analyze, and document business requirements, develop system requirements specifications, and liaise with developers. These responsibilities would support multiple Business Intelligence initiatives. A solid business and technology background is essential for success in this role. The role will liaise directly with the business and various technology groups, including the BI development team, other application development teams, infrastructure, vendors, and senior management.


Responsibilities

• Liaises with all business units to provide direction in determining specific area and/or departmental BI needs.
• Collect business requirements: facilitate information gathering sessions with subject matter experts, work with end users to collect reporting requirements using interviewing, model-driven techniques, mock-ups (prototypes), review, and research.
• Business analysis: business process mapping & redesign, opportunity analysis, user interface, prototypes, work flow diagrams, use cases & diagrams, business rules, conceptual data modeling, documentation and data flow diagrams.
• Requirements verification & validation: prototyping, testing scenarios & use cases.
• Publish/manage requirements deliverables.
• Working with architects, developers and testers to ensure all three are always aligned with actual project goals.
• Hands On experience and End-user training on Business Intelligence tools like Cognos.
• Provide end-user support for Business Intelligence across the organization.
• Have leadership skills and be able to supervise activities of junior staff.
  

Expertise / Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree/or equivalent experience (concentration in business or IT a plus)
• Sound understanding of the concepts of Business Analysis and Business Intelligence including data warehousing, score carding, dashboards, enterprise performance management
• Sound understanding of relational database principles and solid working experience with SQL tools; strong aptitude for learning and understanding the business through analysis of data
• 3+ years experience working with business units determining BI and reporting needs, strong focus on experience working with various areas of Capital Markets.
• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated technical aptitude for working with BI software packages and data sources
• Experience with Informatica or similar ETL tools would be an asset
