Job Description:
 
Our client has a requirement for Cognos Business Analyst for a contract opportunity.  The position is located in Calgary. 
 
Requirement or Qualifications:
Position Summary:
Responsible for support of delivering accounting business system application and integration services:
- IBM Cognos Business Intelligence (Cognos BI) Reporting Services
- Develop reports, models and cubes
- Help desk production support for reporting and application infrastructure
- Maintain and support existing Cognos Reporting Application Infrastructure
- Application configuration and administration
 
Technical Skils / Business Knowledge needed:
Customer service
Communication abilities
Cognos 8 BI
Windows Server
Initiative, Relationship Building, Planning & Organization skills
 
 
Qualifications  and Competencies:
- Detailed technical and working knowledge of the Cognos 8 Suite of Reporting tools and building
and maintaining Cognos framework models
 
- General knowledge of the associated business systems and processing requirements
- Expert Organizational, interpersonal, and communication (written and verbal) skills
- Expert analytical/problem solving and trouble shooting ability
- Proven business analysis and consulting skills
- Excellent documentation capabilities, communication, and presentation skills
- Ability to leverage skills to develop and deliver quality training to business users
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently to manage multiple and competing
priorities, and adapt to changing environments
 
- Ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships, while demonstrating a high
level of cooperation and mutual respect
 
- Knowledge of systems implementation methodologies and project management skills
- Knowledge of SQL (Structured Query Language) and stored procedures
- Experience in Incident, Change, Release, and Problem Management processes
- Strong quality management and continuous improvement orientation
- Knowledge of application support best practices
- Familiarity with application security procedures and SOX compliance requirements
- Proven experience with unit, functional, and integration testing
