Job Description:

Our client has a requirement for Information Architect - Taxonomy/SharePoint for a 6 month contract opportunity. The position is located in Toronto.


Duties and responsibilities:

Serve as a domain expert and liaison between the business unit and the solution architect, champion the implementation of taxonomy, Ontology and folksonomy.
Conduct workshops with the business unit to enhance the overall information retrieval experience of the current application
Create and structure the site architecture using concept maps and site maps to taxonomy schemas and personas.
Create and structure the metadata architecture including site columns, content types, social metadata and content type hierarchies.
Create and structure the page architectures using concept designs and wireframes.
Identify and enhance current full content life cycle management including publishing analysis, content deployment and physical storage in the portal site.
Drive business and technical requirements into current and upcoming taxonomy and classification tools.
Define and implement standards and processes for taxonomy development, maintenance of centralized schemas, and metadata management.
Provide training data for automated and manual classifications.


Knowledge, skills and abilities required:

Ability to quickly acquire knowledge of the domain to be modeled,
Thorough understanding of SharePoint 2010 and how this platform implements the information architecture (Taxonomy, Ontology and Folksonomy)
Ability to first-hand understanding of the end users’ requirements , in particular the ability to understand how and why dealers relate to and use the application to find information.
Thorough knowledge of taxonomy creation, including metadata, content classification, controlled vocabularies, and social tagging systems.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Strong communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.


Qualifications:

BSc in Library Science or Library Information Systems
MSc in Library Information Systems is nice to have
Minimum 6 years overall IT experience
Minimum 4 years information architecture (Taxonomy, Ontology and Folksonomy)
Minimum 2 years work experience in Microsoft SharePoint Platform
Minimum 4 years experience using MS Visio, MS Office for information architecture documentation.
Minimum 4 years experience mapping full content life cycle.
