Job Description:
Our client has a requirement for ETL Developer for a 3 months opportunity. The positions are located in Brampton

Objectives of the Role
The ETL Developer – will support the Information and Shared Services department within the Information Technology corporate head office. This position will be responsible for the coding /review / acceptance of ETL code to be promoted into production. The ETL Developer will be involved in projects from inception through design and development and into post production support, to ensure that items developed are of high quality and will not damage production. The ETL Developer will utilize the full suite of ETL tools technologies and practices ensuring compliance to configuration management and security best practices across the organization. This role work closely with Project BAs, the DBA, and the production support teams.
Specific Accountabilities/KPI’s
Strategic
•Work with Business Analysts to help analyze extraction requirements and formulate a sound strategy in implementing these requirements within the context of a comprehensive data warehousing solution
•Actively participate in design and analysis sessions to ensure sound team decision-making
•Design and develop ETL solutions for interfacing between applications and the Enterprise Data Warehouse.
•Support system and user acceptance testing activities, including issue resolution so that tasks are completed in a timely manner
• Leverage industry tools and best practices for implementing ETL solutions
•Conduct root cause analysis and resolve production problems and data issues
• Implement & enforce development standards and ensure timely execution of ETL processes.
•Adhere to quality standards and ensure single points of failure do not impact availability of business data & reports
•Executes the diagnosis/assessment/correction of deficiencies within the environment
•Design and document ETL solutions, develop SQL scripts, work tables and UNIX scripts.
•Create Autosys documents and jobs, test plans, unit test code, migrate to QA, retest, and implement into Production.
•Works with teams to ensure alignment of Dev, QA, and PRD controls, authorizations and promotions of new code, agents and changes
•Identify process improvement opportunities

Candidate Profile
•Demonstrated excellence in Database / ETL coder in a complex multi TB Datawarehousing environment.
•Teradata concepts and architecture
•Autosys
•UNIX Korn Shell Scripts, AWK
•Teradata load utilities: BTEQ, Multiload, Fastload, Tpump
•Business Objects Data Services ETL Tools background
Preferred Skills
•Full development lifecycle experience: requirements, design, build, test, deploy
•Broad technical experience across OS (Window, UNIX), Teradata Database, application server (J2EE, .NET) and other technologies (MQSeries, JMS etc.)
•Ability to map business requirements to technology capability.
•Ability to review ongoing and proposed projects to identify opportunities for reuse and process improvement.
•Attention to detail to review project deliverables for completeness, quality, and compliance with established project standards.

•Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) combined with strong interpersonal skills
