Role:
We are looking for a REDHAT Linux Administrator for a 12 month part-time contract in Toronto. The contract opportunity exists for a Senior UNIX System Administrator in our IT Solutions Infrastructure Management team. Location for this role will primarily be remote with some time in our Data Centre (Co-location).This individual will be responsible for the planning, implementation, maintenance and support of our client's hosted servers. The individual will also provide production server third level support. Presently we are looking at fulltime hours for server build and deployment and then twenty hours per month ongoing for regular maintenance as well as whatever time is billed for third level break-fix support, however this position has a strong potential to become fulltime forty hours plus.
Responsibilities:
- Installation, configuration, maintenance and performance tuning of RedHat ver 5.0 operating system components and system software packages
- Daily monitoring review of critical server resources
- Development and maintenance of Unix operational documentation, installation guides, test plans and procedures
- Technical system administration resource for Technical Services initiated infrastructure projects and technical consultation for IT business projects
- Provide third level support for IT Operations and Client Services
Requirement or Qualifications:
- 5 years workplace experience with Linux system administration.
- Workplace experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux
- Experience with RHEL installation, administration, capacity planning and systems management integration
- Experience with RHEL Server security
- Experience with Java 2 SDK, Tomcat ver 5.5, MySQL ver. 5.0, OpenCMS ver 7.0 preferred
- Team player with a professional attitude
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Good organizational and interpersonal skills
- Strong problem determination skills
- Ability to work independently and remotely
- Flexible with respect to work hours (ie. Maintenance during off-peak hours)
- Experience with incident, problem and change management
