About the Job

Our client has a requirement for Business Analyst: SMI MPLS Network Project for a 6 month Contract opportunity. The positions are located in Toronto, ON.

 

This client is a commercial Crown corporation, owned by the Province of British Columbia and regulated by the British Columbia Utilities Commission. Client’s corporate purpose is to provide reliable power, at low cost, for generations. It is one of the largest electric utilities in Canada, serving more than 1.8 million customers in a diverse geographic area containing over 95% of British Columbia’s population.
     The client operates and maintains a large telecommunications network critical to the safe and efficient operation of the electrical power grid. The network reaches generating sites, substations, transmission and distribution assets, repeater sites, offices and operations centres. As part of the upgrade to Client’s telecommunications network, Client will be implementing Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS). The introduction of the MPLS service requires development of a sustainment operating solution.

Responsibilities and Requirements

Through this Request for Quotation Client is seeking a Business Analyst to provide the business analysis leadership and deliverables needed for the new MPLS project service introduction.

• Reporting to the Client Network Planning Manager, the Business Analyst will define and develop the sustainment solution (roles/process/tools) required for the new MPLS service implementation. This will involve working with all sustainment stakeholders to determine the required organizational model, determine ‘fit/gap’ of existing processes and augment/modify as needed as well as ensure integration of supporting tools.
• Conduct detailed analysis of sustainment needs and requirements.
• Work with sustainment management and representatives to define needed processes and roles.
• Assess new technical support tools and ensure their integration with existing technologies and solutions.
• Lead design and develop of all sustainment solution aspects including processes, organizational model and supporting tool integration.
• Develop sustainment deliverables needed to ensure successful transition to sustainment.
• Provide sustainment support during project.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years as a business analyst for technical initiatives and projects;
• Minimum 5 years experience with Client technical teams (both T&S and T&D)
• Experience with Client operational processes and documentation standards including Runbooks, Maintenance Standards, RACI’s and Operating Orders
• Experience with Client ITDSP processes
• ALU’s MPLS technology and associated solution components including 7750 and 7705 model routers and supporting tool set SAM 5620 and Service Portal Express
• Successful implementation of technology-based support models and sustainment solutions
• Business analysis principles, methodologies and tools and their use within large-scale enterprises
• Development and implementation of detailed workflows and process definitions
• Technical background in IP networking and ability to translate technical needs into business process solutions
• Knowledge of sustainment related applications including Passport, Telenium and CROW
• Team player with ability to foster effective working relationship across multiple groups
• Highly organized, driver with strong leadership skills and ability to adapt to changing environments
• Experience working with large electrical utilities in a regulated environment;
