Job Description:

Our client has a requirement for a Business Intelligence Specialist for a 2 month contract opportunity. The position is located in Toronto.

Role:

• Experience in the BI technology and infrastructure implementation
• 10+ years hands-on working experience in the BI technology and infrastructure implementation in a large organization, including but not limited to:
• Directly installed and or configured BI web servers and application servers and associated hardware and software for at least five BI project including IBM WebSphere platform, JEE technology and IBM Cognos BI platform;
• Directly installed database servers for the data warehouse and data marts for at least five BI projects; and
• Directly installed and configured BI development tools for the developers for at least five BI projects.
• Experience in the development of the data warehouse and data marts
• 10+ years hands-on work experience in the development of the data warehouse and data marts in a large organization, including but not limited to:
• At least created two data warehouses;
• At least created three data marts;
• Direct experience in applying both Inmon's and Kimball’s Data
• Directly created ten dimensional models using BI tools including IBM Cognos Framework Manager for at least ten large scale BI projects and or reporting projects;
• Directly created at least five star schema based models using modeling tools including Power Designer.
• Directly designed and performed data cleansing and value mapping for at least five large scale BI integration and or data migration projects; and
• Directly coded ETL scripts for data cleansing, transformation and loading using data integration tools including Informatica for at least five large scale BI integration and or data migration projects.
• Experience in the development of the dimensional models
• 10+ years hands-on work experience in the development of the dimensional models, including but not limited to:
• Experience in the development of BI integration solution
• 10+ years hands-on work experience in the development of the BI integration solution where data from many systems is integrated through the BI toolset, including but not limited to:
• Experience in the development of BI reports, dashboards, scorecards and advanced business analytic functions
• 10+ years hands-on work experience in the development of BI reports, dashboards, scorecards and advanced business analytic functions through the BI toolset, including but not limited to:
• Directly designed and developed BI reports, dashboards and scorecards for at least five large scale BI and or operational reporting projects using BI tools including Cognos BI tools;
• Directly designed and developed OLAP cube and OLAP analytical functions for at least three large scale BI projects; and
• Directly designed and developed advanced BI analytic functions (e.g. key performance indicator monitoring, forecasting, data mining, drill through, drill down/up, dice, slice, etc) for at least three large scale BI projects using BI tools including Cognos BI tools and other BI analytical tools.
• Directly gathered and analyzed business requirements for at least five large scale BI projects;
• Directly designed and documented the business requirements using multiple modeling paradigms through modeling tools including power designer;
• Directly interviewed and or met at least twenty senior management teams (e.g. CIO, general managers, executive sponsors, business operational senior managers/directors, policy and research group, data strategy groups, etc);
• At least applied five different approach to engage various level of stakeholders.
• Directly developed BI application and technical architecture for at least three large scale BI projects;
• Directly participated BI privacy and security architecture development, including participating the privacy impact analysis, thread risk assessment and applied the assessment recommendation to the BI solution architecture to strengthen the data protection and system safeguards.
• Directly experience in the performance management;
• Directly experience in the data management;
• Directly experience in supporting the organizational data strategy setup and implementation;
• Strong knowledge in the big data;
• Strong knowledge in the BI business and IT trends;
• Strong knowledge in establishing the BI center of excellence
• Experience in the business requirements gathering and documentation using multiple modeling paradigms
• 10+ years hands-on work experience in the business requirements gathering and documentation using multiple modeling paradigms (e.g. Use Case modeling, Information and Activity modeling, Reporting Requirements) through the modeling toolset, including but not limited to:
• Experience in the BI solution architecture development
• 10+ years hands-on experience in the BI solution architecture development, including:
• Advanced, broadly-based of the overall field of business analytics,
• Advanced, broadly-based of the overall field of business analytics, business intelligence and information technology, including but not limited to:
• Proven facility in consultation, consensus building, negotiation and facilitation including excellent oral and written communication skills
• Proven knowledge and experience in preparing, leading and facilitating Architecture / Joint Requirement Planning Workshops. Demonstrated skills to work effectively as both a team leader and as a member of a team, including projects involving the trial or adoption of new technology. Track record of managing multiple disciplines in both technical and business areas.
