Job Description:
Our client has a requirement for a C Systems Developer for a 1 year opportunity. This may extend for an additional 2 years. The position is located in Calgary.
Work Description:
The incumbent will be responsible for collecting business requirements, maintenance, development, testing and support of a payments calculation system currently in use by the organization. The incumbent may be requested to assist in the support of other applications and interfaces currently in use. Reporting to the Associate Director of Business Solutions, and will work under the direction and supervision of a Team Leader.
Environment:
Our Information System is a large and complex client server application used to track funds payable to the province. The application runs on a SUN Solaris UNIX platform using Sybase 15.5. The database is approximately 960 GB. The batch component is written in C, and the online component in PowerBuilder. The system utilizes EDI, and employs Microsoft IIS for a Web interface. The Information System interfaces with several applications on various platforms, including the Petroleum Information Network (Petrinex).
Leadership and Interpersonal Skills:
The successful candidate must possess excellent interpersonal skills and experience in communicating directly with the client community, along with a proven ability to function within a team. Resources must also possess excellent diagnostic and problem solving skills. Education and past experience should be in keeping with that required to fully understand the technical aspects of the tasks.
