About the Job

Our client has a requirement for Application Architect - Banking (credit cards and collection) for a Permanent, Fulltime opportunity. The positions are located in Toronto.

Requirements or Qualifications

• Act as a lead technical architecture consultant in Client governed technical projects, providing technical knowledge, guidelines and technical leadership, overseeing a team of senior architects
• Oversight of solution design, technical architecture, infrastructure architecture, system and application design, development, system integration and testing activities for industry aligned value added business solutions
• Understand the balance between client requirements and purity of design, adhering to Client's enterprise standards, client's standards and technology vision and direction
• Design, recommend and be responsible for end-to-end project level technical solutions
• Provide creative alternatives and recommendations in a business context; working closely with business architecture and technology delivery team
• Present and take full accountability for the technical solution proposed
• Coordinate technical and architecture decisions with multiple stakeholders including the client and multiple business partner suppliers.
• Manage scope and technical deliverables to contractual boundaries, while supporting the clients achievement of business value, and CGI’s expected financial results.
• Work with a team of technical architects, designers and developers in multiple Client development centers

 

Required Skills

• Proficient in architecting/designing/developing multi-tiered secured business solutions within a Services-Oriented-Architecture for high availability, scalability and performance
• Object oriented modeling, design and development
• Expert in current and legacy platform specific programming languages and environments such as: Java/J2EE, Microsoft ,NET Framework, COBOL/RPG
• Expert in SOA technology and protocols such as SOAP, WSDL, WS-Security and UDDI
• Understanding of enterprise, network, infrastructure and database architecture
• Understanding of industry relevant standards such as ESG or FIX within banking, or IHE Profiles within Health (as examples)
• Expert in standard development methodologies such as RUP, XP and/or Agile
• Strong understanding or previous experience in process-driven software development lifecycles and quality methods such as CMM or Six Sigma

Nice to Have Skills

• Post-secondary degree in business, computer science or related disciplines
• 10+ years IT Industry experience in application architecture/design and development
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organization and leadership skills with the ability to facilitate technical session
• Can communicate in both technical and business terms
• Ability to multi-task
• Previous experience in industry relevant applications
• Previous experience with credit card or collections projects
• Experience in and comfortable working in an abstract matrix organization, and working with various groups, including development, testing, operations and business development to advocate the architecture standards and enforcement
• Evidence of continued professional development in areas related to architecture definition and development
