About the Job

Our client has a requirement for a Senior Mobile Platform Developer for a 1 Year Contract opportunity. The position can be located in either Toronto or London, ON.

Role

Our client requires a Senior Mobile Platform Developer, with solid lead experience to work in the mobile development team. As part of the team, you will design and deliver solutions for a variety of projects requiring mobile device application development supporting a wide variety of business functionality and integration with multiple enterprise systems. You will have experience in developing solutions and proven experience leading others.

 

 

Responsibilities

• The Solution Designer (front end) will be accountable for leading the design and development of mobile
  client applications that follow best practices and technology and architecture standards.
• Prime contact with technical experts, project teams, business and outside vendors, providing leadership,
  guidance and direction
• Work independently and often autonomously as the senior or lead developer and coach/guide team
  members within area of expertise
• Overall accountability for the delivery of the solution design and deliverables.
• In conjunction with architects and managers provide effort estimates for new projects and initiatives
• Consult on development of the System Requirements Specification (SRS). Work closely with Business
  Analyst to translate business requirements into timely and robust technical solutions
• Lead the creation of a comprehensive end-to-end solution and coordinate with Solution Architects and
  other Solution Designers as required driving the creation of the System Design Specification [SDS].
• Work with developers to ensure that the detailed technical design is fully understood and the development
  initiatives are in line with the intended design and standards
• Ensure team members adhere to guidelines/procedures on highly complex or large scale projects
  complying with the system development life cycle (SDLC) and project management methodology (PMLC).
• Conduct code reviews to ensure quality, standards compliance, reusability and ease of maintenance
• Deliver effective and efficient solutions by meeting key project milestones and ensure that the project
  deliverables are on time, within budget, and adhere to the corporate quality and security standards
• Communicate project status and provide timely escalation of issues to ensure project objectives are met
• Provide technical support for escalated incidents/outages to ensure that they are resolved efficiently with
  minimal impact to stakeholders
• Work on a broad range of tasks and multiple, concurrent projects. Prioritize and manage own workload in
  order to deliver quality results and meet timelines
• Participate in knowledge transfer within the team and business units

 

Requirements or Qualifications

Qualified Candidates will have:

• 3+ years proven lead experience
• Minimum 6 years’ experience in web application development and minimum 3 years in mobile application development with excellent knowledge of the following:
• Native platforms – iOS or Android, BB, Windows
• Mobile programming experience in more than one of Objective C, xCode (iOS), J2ME (Android), with C#, Metro (Window), C++ (BB) an asset
• Web Technologies: HTML5, JavaScript, CSS, HTML-DOM, AJAX
• Web services experience
• Experience in mobile application deployment required (Apple, Google, BB)
• Very good understanding of client server architecture and SOA
• Comfortable working on large scale, multi-component complex distributed systems
• REST, JAX-RS, JSON, XML is an asset
• Development tools: Eclipse, Ant/Maven, Apache, Tomcat is an asset
• Development and platforms: Windows, Unix/Linux, Websphere is an asset
• Web Frameworks such as Dojo, jQuery, Sencha is an asset
• Other Technologies an asset: SSO, LDAP, J2EE, JSP, Servlets, JDBC, Struts is an asset
• Experience with JUnit/DBUnit and Continuous Integration is an asset
• Knowledge of MKS or GIT code management tool is an asset
• Ability to multi-task in a fast paced/often changing environment.
• Proven analytical and problem solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• A University or College degree in Computer Science or equivalent field
