About the Job

Our client has a requirement for a Network Specialist for a 6 months Contract opportunity. The position is located in Toronto, ON.

 

Requirements:

• Collecting all the data required for assessing the current state of the WAN, WLAN and Internet network architecture.
• Interpret network data from existing monitoring and diagnostic tools: Solar Winds, Wireshark, Cisco’s Prime Infrastructure, CA Spectrum and QRadar.
• Recommend new data collection tools to be deployed to improve the ability to identify network related problems.
• Provide daily bandwidth usage reports for all WAN, WLAN and Internet interfaces. Company’s WAN utilizes a high bandwidth MPLS service to connect six remote locations in Ontario to its Head Office in Toronto and a low bandwidth IPsec/VPN service to connect four Regional offices and twenty-six District offices to its Head Office.
• Develop baseline profiles for each WAN, WLAN and Internet interface.
• Generate exception reports for variances to interface baselines, including cause, duration and resulting action to the exception.
• Provide daily WLAN resource usage report including connections by client type, client location and any rogue access attempts.
• Provide monthly service availability reports, showing outage locations, dates, times, durations, cause and resolution.
• Assist with the installation, configuration and upgrading of network devices or monitoring tools.
• Maintain current network topology diagrams and asset inventory documents.
• Provide technical expertise through investigation and recommendation of specific solutions including best alternative design (which may require out of the box thinking).
• Responsible for working on multiple assignments simultaneously as directed by the team leader of Technical Service’s network support group.
• Provide input into network technology troubleshooting discussions and design reviews.
• Ability to work in a 24x7 production environment and work during non-business hours
