About the Job

Our client has a requirement for a Business Consultant - Expert (Senior Data Analyst) for a 6 month Contract opportunity. The position is located in Toronto, ON.

We are looking for a DATA Analyst with Deep Data Analytics, Capital Market and Audit Experience.

 

Requirements

• BA/BS degree with a minimum of 5-7 years of combined relevant experience in technology, audit, risk management and/or business functions within banking or financial institutions, including direct relevant experience in data analysis

 

A. Knowledge

Knowledge of Capital Markets (CM) line of business acquired through at least 2 years of direct relevant experience in one or more of the following areas (at least 2)

• Front-Office Trading or Trading Support
• Middle-Office
• Back-Office / Wholesale Banking Operations (e.g. trade settlement and clearing processes)
• Risk Management including Market Risk, Credit Risk, Counterparty Risk, Collateral Management, CM Operational Risk
• Valuation Product Control (VPC) and Pricing
• Model Risk and Vetting (MRV)
• Model Development, Stress Testing
• Regulatory Capital, Capital Adequacy Requirement and Basel Accords

 

B. Knowledge of Data Analysis techniques acquired through at least 2 years of direct relevant experience in one or more of the following areas (at least 2):

• Data warehousing, cubing, multi-dimensional analysis
• Development of Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes
• Data cleansing, transformation and normalization
• Data processing and reconciliation
• Data flow analysis (ERDs, Mapping, Tracing, etc.)
• Advanced data analysis techniques: regression analysis, statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, distribution analysis, correlation, variance, multi-variate analysis, Monte Carlo simulation, etc.

C. Skills

• Advance proficiency in MS Excel and MS Access
• Proficient in SAS, SQL, SPSS, MATLAB and/or audit specific data analysis tools such as ACL, IDEA or Monarch.
• Proficiency in one or more of the major BI Reporting tools such as Business Objects
• Exposure to and working knowledge of one or more of the major database platforms: MS-SQL, Oracle, DB2, Sybase etc.
• In-depth project management skills that incorporate change management, business requirements, design (including data flow mapping), prototyping, development, testing, training, and CAATT production support
• Experience building and/or supporting continuous audit programs
• Exposure to a wide variety of technology platforms and systems
• Expert analytical and system thinking skills
• Ability to undertake self-directed learning to understand processes and systems
• Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment
• In-depth interpersonal, communication, negotiating, influencing, and relationship management skills

 

Must Have

• Good knowledge of Internal Controls, Controls Testing, and Risk Assessment
• Knowledge of Computer Assisted Audit Tools and Techniques (CAATTs) and data analysis
• Strong knowledge of relational database structures and underlying concepts
• Relevant professional designations, audit specific designations or other advanced degree are nice to have (considered an asset), such as, CA/CGA/CMA, CPA, CIA, CISA, CFA, FRM, PMP, MBA

Nice to Have

• Technology solution development experience
• Knowledge of banking systems and technology landscape (especially Capital Markets)
• Systems requirement analysis experience
• Project Management experience
