Our client has a requirement for a Senior Program Manager for a 2 Year Contract opportunity.  The position is located in Toronto, ON.

Role
  • The Senior Program Manager will be responsible for the overall success of a large business transformation program, as assigned to the Operational Excellence team.
  • The Senior Program Manager will work closely with the Program Sponsor to understand the business needs and will develop and own the program’s strategy and roadmap.  
  • The Senior Program Manager will work with the program stakeholders and to ensure the successful delivery on the program goals. This program consists of both technical and business led projects and the successful candidate would have experience managing both types of projects.  
  • The Program Manager will be part of an internal consulting group that identifies, oversees and supports the delivery of the firm’s most strategic projects. This team collaborates with all business units nationally, to ensure the following:
  • The right things get done and are aligned (enterprise portfolio management)
  • The firm’s most strategic initiatives are managed and governed (program management)
    The firm strengthens its ability to execute projects and innovate processes (project, process design and change management capabilities)

Responsibilities

Program Strategy
  • Works closely with the Program Sponsor to establish program vision and strategy, determine program scope and also develop the program roadmap
  • Responsible for shaping the program and integration approach needed to achieve results, and gaining consensus from program stakeholders for that approach
  • Responsible for business case creation and annual update
  • Determines how the program can be broken into projects to enable the effective delivery of the program objective
  • Works with program stakeholders to ensure timely reviews at key decision points to accelerate decision-making, and maintain program momentum

Program Management
  • Defines scope for each of the projects that will be executed as part of the program and responsible for following up with project managers on a regular basis to ensure deliverables are completed on time and within budget
  • Responsible for managing interdependencies between the projects that make up the program
  • Determines change management, training, transition and implementation initiatives required for program success
  • Reviews key program and project deliverables for quality
  • Monitors issues, risks and key milestones for program, and escalates as appropriate

Program Governance, Reporting & Measurement
  • Works with Program sponsor to setup program governance, ensuring all key stakeholders are represented
  • Schedules and facilitates all program governance meetings
  • Advises the program sponsor and steering committee(s) of progress against program goals and objectives.
  • Manages and adheres to budget and resource allocation efficiently and transparently
  • Monitors achievement of program outcomes against the business case
  • Communicates program progress clearly and appropriately to all levels
  • Manages, coaches and develops teams and resources, including hiring as required

Requirements or Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of Program Management experience with strong project management skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or related field
  • 10 years of project or program management roles
  • Effective leadership, consulting, facilitation, consensus building, conflict resolution, and negotiation and team-building skills
  • Experience managing a complex project / team environment:
    • Cross matrix reporting
    • Multiple governance groups and stakeholders
    • A diverse team of professionals cross all Firm functions
  • Executive presence and a demonstrated ability to advise senior leadership
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to build credibility and develop strong client relationship
  • Project Management designation (e.g. PMP certification)is an asset
  • Track record of successfully deploying complex enterprise-wide solutions within a professional services environment is an asset
  • Knowledge within tax professional services is an asset
