About the Job

Our client has a requirement for a Senior Java developer for a 4 month contract opportunity.  The position is located in downtown Toronto.

Responsibilities

• Writes code according to accepted standards based on user requirements, which are included in the delivery of the application solution, to meet the business need 
• Participate in the development, testing, and implementation of small to mid size initiatives to meet the functional and non-functional requirements of the application. The resulting artifacts will be used to better understand, communicate, and provide specifications during the coding and Quality Assurance activities 
• Participates, and at times leads, in planning, estimating, developing, and testing activities in order to support bug fixes, identify anomalies and misunderstandings, and provide clarity surrounding the interpretation of the requirements 
• Support implementation activities in order to promote the application into the production environment in preparation for the user community 
• Acquires end-to-end knowledge of assigned applications from existing documentation, application code, subject matter experts, and/or other application artifacts in order to identify and recommend technical improvement opportunities to senior management (i.e., Senior Manager, Platform Development, Technology Relationship Manager, Development Manager, and Technology Head) 

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on Java Development experience
• Knowledge of and experience with Pentaho Data Integration (Kettle) for Business Intelligence
• Experience with Stress Testing
• Knowledge of Banking industry and products, credit risk
