Job Description

Our client has a requirement for a Database Modeler for Permanent opportunity.  The position is located in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Role / Responsibilities

• Designing, modeling, building a database and/or data warehouse
• Gathering and documenting data model requirements
• Developing and maintaining data management standards and conventions, DDL, data element naming standards and metadata standards
• Creating and modifying database schemas and tables
• Working with SQL developers to tune database schemas for SQL performance
• Generating schema documentation

Education

• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science and/or Business OR Diploma in IT and/or Business with equivalent IT experience
• Industry recognized certification(s)

Must Have Skills and Experience

• Minimum 7+ yrs database designing & modeling experience
• Minimum 5+ yrs database tuning, performance, scalability experience
• Minimum 2+ yrs working with SQL Server 2008
• Minimum 2+ yrs preparing schemas for Cube layer (de-normalized vs Star)
• Minimum 10+ yrs working in progressive Business/IT Sector

Nice to Have Skills and Experience

• Working knowledge of the retail capital markets domain
• Working knowledge of various databases (oracle, DB2, etc.)
• DBA knowledge of at least one database (oracle, DB2, etc.)
• Working knowledge of the commercial banking space
