About the Job

Our client has a requirement for a Java Developer for a three month contract opportunity. The position is located in Mississauga, ON.

Role
This project will be taking older technology and upgrading to a new platform; affecting several applications.
As a key member of this team, the incumbent will be expected to take ownership of the following accountabilities: 

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain quality code, consistent with client standards; provide code maintenance and support during testing cycles and post-production deployment. 
• Ensure defect free programming by testing and debugging using available/appropriate tools 
• Comply with the system development life cycle (SDLC) and project management methodology (PMLC) - including creation of project documentation of system requirements, estimates of scope and cost, etc. 
• Support business activities through execution of small enhancements and break/fix implementations. 
• Work with other Developers and Solution Designers to ensure that the configuration and custom components meet application requirements and performance goals. 
• Assist in the development/maintenance of comprehensive processes for prevention of issues and participate in problem determination and timely resolution of incidents applying appropriate quality measures. 
• Apply analytical skills to resolve problems and deliver viable solutions. 
• Anticipate obstacles and execute proactive approaches to issues. 
• Perform impact assessment for incidents and facilitate internal and external communication throughout incident resolution. 
• Provide Technical Input into Business Recovery Plans (BRP) and IT Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP). 
• Assist with IT Audits and the satisfactory resolution of any audit findings. 
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to research, analyze, design and resolve problems for assigned programs. 
• Ability to work effectively in a fast paced team environment with minimal supervision. 
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Qualifications

• 5 years experience working on application development projects using JAVA, J2EE, and related technologies. 
• Working knowledge of IBM WebSphere & RAD version 7 
• Familiarity with Struts, XML, ePlatform architecture, SOA, DAO framework, and XSLT.

Nice to Have

• Working knowledge of MS SQL Server, IIS 6.0 & DB2. 
• Financial Institution or similar experience is preferred. 
• Knowledge of the TDBFG environment is preferred 
• Experience working with Commercial or Small Business Banking is an asset.
