Job Description:
Our client has a requirement for a Systems Administrator / Operations Support – L3 for a 9 month contract opportunity. The position is located in Toronto.

Role:
The Systems Administration/Operation Support specialist (“System Administrator”) will be required to:
  • Provide technical expertise and operational advice to Project Managers and other members of the management/operations team regarding technical issues and impacts of planned and proposed maintenance activities and enhancements to the infrastructure, databases, network, and applications;
  • Provide directions, guidance and advice to members of the operations team, including database administrators, network administrators and application specialists, in order to ensure infrastructure management practices, standards, processes and tools meet operations and delivery;
  • Deliver expert-level troubleshooting capabilities to resolve complex issues affecting critical business and infrastructure systems, including but not limited to, Microsoft Windows Servers and Active Directory, Citrix XenApp and Netscaler, Microsoft SQL, VMware ESX, EMC SAN, RPA and Replication Manager, and to take appropriate measures to correct them;
  • Ensure all environments are properly monitored and administered including regular patch maintenance, incident and problem management response, appropriate execution of all documented operational processes and regular backups of all systems as defined in the disaster recovery plan;
  • Ensure all environments are in compliance with security requirements, both physically and at a systems level, as per documented security, privacy and risk management guidelines;
  • Manage the infrastructure and applications, including change requests, new deployments and upgrades of MIS, HRIS and IAR, to meet defined service levels, privacy and security requirements, standards and ensure they operate within the documented design and architecture framework;
  • Monitor the effectiveness of the current systems, identify areas of improvements and to provide analysis and design of the tools, operating environments, hardware and applications for projects, as required;
  • Proactively maintain the incident management process, identifies potential risk events, provide root cause analysis for infrastructure and application-based issues before they occur so that proper mitigating strategies can be implemented;
  • Support the creation of technical documentation, deployment guides and other operations processes as required;
  • Provide expert advice by engaging resources (i.e. legal, procurement, privacy and security, technical teams) on emerging and potential risks and issues and to develop recommended approaches and plans to the Project Manager and other members of the management/operation team;.
  • Maintain partnership through consultation with stakeholders and third party vendors in order to sustain the managed infrastructure environment and supporting processes;
  • Provide input and recommendations to future initiatives and manage other operational activities and projects duties, as required
 
Requirement or Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience of which 2+ years work experience in health care sector
  • Demonstrated work experience in leading technical teams of 10+ resources
  • Strong customer service, tact and diplomacy to ensure client needs are managed effectively.
  • Up to date knowledge of healthcare technologies and industry best practices)
  • In-depth understanding of technical infrastructure integration and other supporting network technologies such as:
    • Citrix XenApp, NetScaler
    • Network load balancers such as Big IP
    • Security components like firewalls
    • VMWare products (ie: ESXi, vSphere, etc)
    • Microsoft server 2003/2008 and active directory
    • EMC SAN infrastructure including Fibre channel, brocade encryption switches,
    • Replication Manager and Recovery Point
    • Monitoring and management tools such as Splunk and Hyperic
    • MS Exchange Server components
  • Experience in managing data centre – hardware, network, SAN and data warehousing and deduplication technologies
  • Experience and technical knowledge for management of enterprise applications like:
    • Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains (GP)
  • Quadrant Workforce HR software
