Job Description:

Our client has a requirement for a System Administrator VMWare Level 3 for a one (1) year contract opportunity. The position is located in Ottawa, ONT

Requirement or Qualifications:

• Provide support to the VMWare team and VMWare operating environment including, installation, provisioning, configuration, tuning and maintenance of existing and new VMWare operating environments;
• Provide systems administration of the VMWare operating environment including: o Maintaining the system’s Standard Operation Procedure (SOP), best practices in accordance with established service levels.
• Backing up and restoring systems and relevant data including integration with IBM Tivoli backup solutions.
• Configuring and maintaining disaster recovery scenarios utilizing VMWare tools and IBM Tivoli tools.
• Configuration and integration of the systems with the corporate SAN/NAS storage solutions;
• Monitoring system activity and related scripts including integration with IBM Tivoli monitoring solutions; and
• Apply IT security best practices in a heterogeneous TOP SECRET network environment, including hardening operating systems, integrating audit logging procedures for security groups, implementing and integration with new IT security policies (ITSG-33) in preparation for MTA and LTA datacentre moves and providing documentation for SA & A (Accreditation) activities
• Apply tuning for the VMWare virtual platform and physical platforms and application software utilizing VMWare tools and techniques.
• Integrate the VMWare operating environment within the environment to respect ITIL driven procedures including, change, incident, configuration, event, access and problem management and request fulfillment.
• Provide advice and guidance, develop test plans and advanced platform design using VMWare suite of products in order to assist in the advancement of the VMWare operating environment
