Job Description:
Our client has a requirement for a Change Project Manager for a 12 month contract opportunity. The position is located in Toronto.

Responsibilities:

Quality assurance and advisory
  • Provide consulting advice on the project engagement and ensure that project deliverables and end-products meet quality standards as defined by the executive sponsors, business partners, and business requirements

 
Relationship management
  • Build, sustain, and manage relationships with the executive sponsors and business partners by providing sound advice, counsel, and support.
  • Implement process improvement initiatives and change management through collaboration with senior management in functional areas affected by the project implementation.
  • Act as a single point of contact and escalation for project stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership in the areas of business client relationships, value creation, and opportunity identification and assessment.
  • Align and prioritize change objectives with business goals.
  • Implement and process improvement initiatives and change management through collaboration with senior management.
  • Responsible for building and maintaining day-to-day relationships and communications with executive sponsors and business partners at various levels of the organization.
  • Ensure there are no surprises when the project is implemented in production by collaborating with business partners to:
  • ensure the project implementation reflects their business requirements;
  • identify and resolve incongruent business partner requirements; and
  • identify, respond, and manage business partner expectations;

 
Business planning consulting
  • Advice the business lead on development and implementation of project plans to support achievement of business goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Review progress to change objectives. Develop, communicate, delegate, and actively participate in the implementation of actions required to achieve change objectives. Escalate significant issues to the business lead and/or the executive sponsors.
 
 
Change management and innovation
  • Act as a change agent to influence the business partners to support and implement appropriate methodologies in process improvement initiatives
  • Serve as a master change agent by driving the required cultural transformation and the adoption of successful process improvement practices and by diagnosing barrier to project success.
  • Facilitate change impact experienced by business partners, ensuring the business units understand the business strategy and objectives that are driving the change.
  • Direct the design of new processes, implementation of plans and/or change management plans as appropriate to support recommended business process improvements.
  • Understand the cultural dynamics of the current state of the credit organization, including hidden assumptions and the difference between stated values and the practice values. Create a strategic practical course between the current reality and a desired future state.
  • Develop and implement creative solutions to facilitate effective communication to stakeholders so that sustained stakeholder engagement is achieved.
  • Review processes post-implementation to ensure that change “takes hold”, that adjustments are discussed where necessary, and that the stakeholders are supported in the introduction of change in the initial post-implementation period.
  • Provide insight and analysis to support improvement of business processes.
 
 
Team Leadership / Management
  • Promote a high performing work environment by setting/demonstrating high performance standards for team.
  • Lead and facilitate regular team meetings.
  • Set and model high performance standards and empower a team to achieve agreed-upon outcomes.
  • Provide performance feedback.
  • Provide leadership and direction by planning tasks and assignments for business analysts.
  • Establish effective relationships to business analysts to identify continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Develop business analysts by providing mentoring, coaching, and stretch assignment

 
Qualifications:
Knowledge:
  • MBA or equivalent general business experience
  • Broad financial services industry background with extensive project experience or extensive external consulting experience
  • Expert level knowledge in business process design and organizational design or change management work with foundational knowledge in Diagnostic work and project/program management.
  • Certification in one or more Quality and Productivity Improvement Methodologies (e.g. Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt)
  • Strong Project Management Skills with extensive external consulting experience or project experience
  • Experience working with the financial services industry
  • Exceptional knowledge of risk management, particularly counterparty credit risk, Basel II/OSFI regulatory requirements for trading book products, and best practices as related to credit process

Skills:
  • Business partner-facing position requiring strong oral and written communication skills including with solid interpersonal skills (especially “Listening Skills”)
  • Strong facilitation skills for meetings, decisions and conflicts related to definition, design, build, testing and deployment of solutions
  • Change Leadership - Understands the cultural dynamics of the current state of an organization including the hidden assumptions and the difference between the stated values and the values in practice. Brings current state of culture to light without paralyzing the organization and helps create a strategic practical course between the current reality and a desired future reality to exploit best advantage to change. Ability to negotiate and influence stakeholders;
  • Impact and Influence - Structuring an idea or proposal in such a way as to engage the agreement, commitment and championship of others through the discipline of the fact base presented, the targeted benefits articulated, and the coherence and cogency of the argument / presentation.
  • Financial Understanding - Anticipates the impact of trends on the organization and its customers, and understands the implications for process changes. Sees the big picture. Devises multiple actions to position the business for ongoing growth and profitability. Recommends goals to meet financial targets and contributes to long-term business success.
  • Organizational Understanding - Understands, describes and navigates existing work, organization and power structures, and makes recommendations with a clear sense of organizational impact.
  • Resource Planning - Forecasts and articulates resource requirements based on knowledge of resourcing and availability of resources. Develops an overall resourcing strategy and plans, including resource optimization and resource-leveling plan
  • Excellent time management skills.
