Job Description

Our client has a requirement for an Applications Architect for a 6 month contract opportunity. The position is located in Toronto.

Role and Responsibilities

The Application Architect will provide Middleware Administration expertise and technical leadership in the planning, design & implementation of complex solutions in a multi-platform environment and will also be responsible for solution concepts, proposals and high level logical design while maintaining architectural governance on standards, policies and design principles:

• Day to day management of the specified project deliverables on time as per the project plan.
• Actively ensure knowledge transfer through partnership with the Client’s Application Maintenance Team.
• Ensure full system documentation is complete and reflect all current changes
• Knowledge of large-scale, complex systems analysis techniques, methodologies and relevant architectures, including strong experience with Service Oriented Architectures, business architecture and related technologies, design of distributed applications, security design and implementation considerations, Unified Modeling Language (UML) design artifacts and Rational Unified Process (RUP) methodology, design and development, programming concepts and languages, (including advanced knowledge of object oriented analysis and design), internet/intranet technology, and emerging technologies, to assess and provide direction on the selection and utilization of software/hardware and methodologies, and provide architectural guidance.
• Knowledge of relevant major technologies in order to identify and assess opportunities for cost-efficient, effective and innovative value added solutions to meet diverse requirements; provide expertise and leadership to the integrity of solutions and their compliance with architectures, policies, standards and goals; perform technical functions and provide technical direction for team members; and evaluate new system and hardware performance.
• Support all build, deployment, testing, create code drop release notes
• Troubleshoot and resolve middleware related issues/defects
• Participate in implementation and post-implementation support

 

Requirements or Qualifications

Must Have

• Strong expertise and hands-on administration experience in IBM Message Broker v8.x and IBM WebSphere MQ v7.x
• Strong expertise and hands-on administration experience in High-availability MQ and WMB
• Strong expertise and hands-on administration experience in JBOSS 5 and clustering
• Knowledge of network and load balancing with IBM IHS server/Apache
• Knowledge of Linux and Windows environment
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Experience in Participating in large MQ projects.
• Hands on installation, configuration, administration and support of WMB, WMQ, JBOSS, IHS software to ensure optimized performance.
