Our client has a requirement for IT DBA for a 6 Month Contract opportunity. The position is located in Mississauga, ON.

Role

We are looking for a Senior IT Database Administrator - Environment Administrator DBA to help handle the support/deployment of SQL servers and Oracle servers. This position may be extended beyond the six month to work on various projects

Responsibilities

The Database Administrator’s role is to install, monitor, maintain, and performance tune production databases while ensuring high levels of data availability. This individual is also responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of databases and their accompanying software. Plans, coordinates, and supervises complex informatics assignments; applies new methods and procedures Responsible for physical databases on specific database technologies; design and implement back up, recovery, archiving and conversion strategies. Maintains the integrity of databases. Provide subject matter expertise in production and non production databases for data development. Manage database distribution, configuration, security and access requirements. Develop and maintain physical databases. Perform testing, reporting, capacity planning, performance tuning, backup and restores. Provide leadership and technical expertise to ongoing problem identification and resolution and root cause analysis process for database environments

 

Requirements or Qualifications

• Solid database concepts and DBMS
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle server
• Ability to manage multiple databases and multiple servers
• Solid Root cause analysis skills and performance tuning experience
• Previous application and operating systems knowledge.

 

Nice to have

• Experience with DBA tasks in Oracle
• IIS
• Financial/Banking industry
• PL/SQL Oracle
• can perform data warehousing and data modeling functions
