Role
The Practice eAdvisory Consultant (PeAC) provides consulting advice and assistance to physicians who are planning to use or are using IT, especially EMRs, to improve the delivery of health care and to gain efficiencies in managing their practice. The PeAC develops and provides consulting services throughout the IT adoption life cycle.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
- Works productively in a multi-disciplinary team under the direction of the Practice Management Consultant responsible for the practice, Regional Manager and Senior Engagement Manager;
- Provides practice planning, advisory and assessment services to link offerings with practice requirements for IT solutions:
- Participates in the assessment of physician group practices to determine current workflow, existing technologies, requirements and other change management issues, and assists them in determining their own unique IT and business requirements and objectives.
- Educates physicians on industry best practices for: re-engineering of business processes, selection of the best-fit IT solution, migration from paper-based processes to electronic, and use of IT to provide better health care and improve practice efficiencies.
- Develops proficiency with the EMR solutions in his/her territory in order to optimize the use of those EMRs.
- Participates in change management workshops for physicians that facilitate the use of guides, tools and best practices;
- Assists in developing change management presentations, templates, guides and tools;
- Provides high-quality, cost-effective delivery of service – on budget;
- Develops and improves practice advisory consulting services and delivery;
- Escalates to the responsible PMC any issues that would delay meeting target funding agreement milestones.
Skills
- University degree in Information Management -- Health Sciences desired – or equivalent experience.
- 3 + years experience in a healthcare consulting/ relationship management role, particularly information/ data-gathering, analysis and problem solving.
- Understanding of clinical and practice management aspects of a medical practice
- Understanding of IT offerings, particularly in EMRs and how IT is applied in clinical practices.
- Must have an understanding of the overall eHealth Ontario strategy and knowledge.
- Outstanding customer service ethic and strong account management skills.
- Effective communication skills including highly competent presentation skills, and ability to understand and communicate complex data and technology issues.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; able to use own initiative; attention to detail.
- Excellent time management. Ability to cope with conflicting demands and to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to travel throughout Ontario.
