About the Job
Our client has a requirement for a Portfolio Manager for a 2 Month (strong potential to be extended) contract opportunity.  The position is located in Mississauga, ON.

Role
Our client is looking for a Portfolio Manager who has built or created portfolio management functions and processes in support of a centralized intake for shared services.
The Portfolio Manager will help set up a portfolio management function in the newly formed group.
This individual will need to have worked with putting together governance rules and establishing guidelines.
The portfolio of projects will be related to the creation of a central intake function. The central intake function will manage all projects that make requests and the portfolio management candidate will coordinate the financial, governance and reporting aspects of management across the entire portfolio.

Responsibilities
  • Provide the Technology Management oversight for large, complex initiatives that present as multiple initiatives across the teams
  • Establish Program and Project level reporting for a new multi team group with an aim to improving visibility of the performance and health of the group's initiatives
  • Identify and establish new governance processes with an aim to ensuring adherence to SDLC methodology and conformity to EPMO standards and measures
  • Identify opportunities for tools and aids to support project managers to be more effective/efficient at their jobs while facilitating collection of metrics for reporting and governance
  • Work within existing project governance constructs to assemble and enter information into the Enterprise Project Management portal (Clarity) 
  • Set direction at an operational level, works autonomously in the management of the unit and collaborates with other business heads to establish and execute on common goals.
  • Direct or manages large-scale applications, programs or projects across multiple product lines, involving significant scope and complexity.
  • Ensures delivery of projects to the business partner, meeting the approved scope/cost/schedule/quality for the project.
  • Perform a governing role
  • Perform risk identification and mitigation activities, escalating unresolved issues to the Executive and / or Steering Committee where appropriate to secure their timely decisions/support.
  • Review the budgeting and forecasting for all projects covered by Program by working with the Project Managers
  • Ensure client satisfaction with the project process and project team by effective and timely communication including status reporting, continual risk/issue assessment/management and escalation, and resolution of issues as they arise.
  • Work with and influence senior level leaders and partner with other IT Managers. 

Requirements or Qualifications
Portfolio Manager experience with experience with creation of a portfolio management function in support of a centralized intake for shared services
  • Experience working with large programs experience and in particular IT projects
  • Dashboard expertise, report writing and change management experience
  • Solid SDLC/PMLC experience and vendor management experience
  • Full life cycle development experience.
  • Experience with proven project methodology tools.
  • Expertise in MS Project, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint.
  • Experience on large programs with multiple applications with multiple interfaces and/or 3rd parties .
  • High Impact or Business Risk Uncertain Business Requirements experience
  • Project Plan development & management experience
  • Work breakdown structure experience
  • Task based plans experience
  • Assumption & risk based plans experience
  • Base-lining & scheduling experience
