About the Job

Our client has a requirement for a  for a Programmer Analyst for a 8  Month  contract opportunity.  The position is located in mississauga or London ON.

Role 

We are looking for a mid level HOST COBOL Mainframe Developer with HOST and COBOL experience to work from either Mississauga or London, ON location. This is a team based work assignment and the candidate will be responsible for simple coding and testing and design work. Host, Cobol and DB2 experience are mandatory. 

Location: flexible - either Creekside or London, ON (preferred) 

If the candidate hired is from Mississauga location, he/she will need to do a day trip to London, ON for the first few weeks to build and establish team relationship. Travel will be reimbursed by Client. There will be infrequent travel after the training sessions. Please make sure you are  okay to travel to London, ON for meetings for the first few weeks of the assignment. 

Responsibilities

• This mid-level developer will be responsible for detailed technical design, development and maintenance of applications on mainframe platforms.
•  Design and code program; create test transactions and run tests.
• Conduct analysis of needs and goals for the development and implementation of applications systems.
• Review, analyze and modify programming systems including encoding, testing, debugging and installation. Maintains batch applications. 

As part of this team, prime responsibility will be to: 

• Work with other team members to cooperatively design, develop and deploy quality solutions in order to satisfy project objectives and client requirements. Writes, tests and debugs code. Participates in code reviews. 
• Comply with System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology. Take part in construction of the requirements, design, testing and deployment documents. Create test plans, test and debug code, using available/appropriate tools. Participate in testing reviews. 
• Ensure consistency in coding standards. 
• Ensure required documentation is housed in the project repository and that knowledge transfer has occurred to full time staff upon completion of contract term. 

Qualifications

• Host Cobol Developer experience 
• Mainframe, HOST, COBOL experience 
• Design work experience 
• JCL utilities 

Nice to have

• Experience with Oracle, Unix and Websphere 
• Knowledge of SQL queries 
• Mainframe MVS 
• SAS programmer experience
