Job Description
Our client has a requirement for Junior .NET Tester for a 12 month contract opportunity.  The position is located in Toronto.

The ideal candidate will participate in the definition, development and deployment of the firm’s enterprise wide systems, applications and standards.  Works to respond to and resolve user problems/requests for development of various practice specific software applications.  Works to resolve technical issues in collaboration with other members of the firm’s Technology Team.   The ideal candidate will have strong design and hands-on development skill.

Responsibilities
Provide expertise in the testing of:
  • .Net web applications deployed on applications servers
  • Integration between applications, both XML and flat file.
  • Database driven reporting solutions
  • Contribution, collection and organization of knowledge capital;
  • Building of knowledge bases and collaboration tools;
  • Project process automation and operational automation; and
  • Work collaboratively within the team to develop and improve QA processes
  • Develop / update and execute test cases for new and existing projects and report on all type of testing including technical and business functional validation and application regression testing.
  • Evaluate and report on the quality of test cases & software products and make recommendations for deployment.
  • Review requirements, release notes and designs and develop and document comprehensive test plans.
  • Prepare and execute test plans, run test cases, create detailed bug reports etc.
  • Support other analysts by reviewing work and providing feedback.
  • Transfer application knowledge to other team members.
  • Report on progress, alerting development team to emerging issues and concerns.
  • Assist development with reproducing defects under investigations.
  • Evaluate business requirements and/or release notes.
  • Create Test Strategy documentation for specific releases. 
  • Assist in other aspects of the project including:

Qualifications Knowledge, skills and abilities
  • 5+ years experience in an application development and system integration environment within a deadline driven atmosphere.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced level knowledge of the software development life cycle, testing strategies, tools and QA methodologies.
  • Experience with QA management process including defect management and tracking.
  • Planning, organizing and implementing quality assurance testing effort at the specified experience level.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of the practices, procedures and principles of Quality Assurance
  • Direct experience creating testing strategy documentation and test plans for various test phases i.e. SIT, UAT etc.
  • Must have experience developing and executing test plans and test cases. Also desirable some experience with scripting and running test sequences using automated testing tools (e.g. Rational Functional Tester, Winrunner, Quick Test Pro, etc.).
  • Knowledge or experience with:
    • NET and web development methodologies and best practices.
    • Databases and the SQL Language
    • XML, XSLT and XML schema’s (XSD)
    • EAI principles and technologies and data transformation techniques.
    • Experience working within an Enterprisewide platform.
  • Must be self-motivated and flexible and be able to work with minimal guidance.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision making skills; organizational creativity and perseverance skills.
  • Collaborative team player with a track record for meeting deadlines.
