Our client has a requirement for a Master Data Specialist for 6 months contract. The position is located in Toronto, Ontario

Summary

The Master Data Specialist will provide expertise to company’s clients in Corporate Business Information and Analytics, with an emphasis on data analysis, data architecture and data quality. 

This role is vital in the development of a Master Data Management (MDM) strategy, to develop the framework and roadmap in which client will achieve their Master Data Goals. The successful candidate will support the Project Director of MDM.

The MDS will provide expertise in translating business requirements and tactical data strategy objectives into a creation of sound MDM strategy and detailed requirements is paramount.  Mentoring and coaching client’s staff and our clients in MDM principles and best practices will be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide MDM leadership and expertise for our clients
• Identify relevant transactional and reference data to be managed as master data
• Manages day to day operational aspects of a project or projects for scope
• Ensures project status reporting is completed on a regular and timely basis
• Assures all project business documents and deliverables are completed and signed off
• Facilitates team meetings effectively
• Holds regular status meetings with the project team
• Effectively communicates issues and risks and relevant project information to stakeholders and ensures timely escalation for resolution where necessary
• Ensures quality of work is achieved within projects through ongoing review and evaluation of project plans, project deliverables and "building quality in" work processes and performance reporting.
• Establish, develop and maintain strong relationships with internal clients, operational staff, consultants and management to be aware of issues that impact on current and future projects, manage expectations, resolve conflict and elicit their support and co-operation.
• Act as facilitator to support collaboration across client’s company.
• Support the decision making process by providing context to the business, and acting as consultant to ensure the right decisions are made.

Knowledge & Skills

• Delivery of MDM Framework, requirements and roadmap.
• Creation of capacity to understand and execute MDM principles and best practices.
• Identify relevant transactional and reference data to be managed as master data.
• Define metadata strategy, including administration and lineage.
• Tie Master Data strategy into existing data governance framework.
• Define and develop data validation, verification, reconciliation and unification strategies.
• Define data quality rules and plans.
