About the Job
Our client has a requirement for a Technical Writer Level 2 for a 2 month contract opportunity.  The position is located in Toronto.

Requirements
The scope of the services to be provided by the Consultant will include, but not limited to the following:
  • Working under the Business Project Manager develops a comprehensive EMS EFMS user guide which includes all working business functionality as developed by July 31, 2013. 
  • Working with technical subject matter experts to prepare and assemble technical documentation for inclusion in the EFMS User Guide.
  • Modifies existing EFMS business and system documentation to account for EFMS changes, coordinates all documentation in accordance with our clients records management procedures.
  • Ensures that accurate records are kept of all manuals that are created (versioning control).
  • Liaise with subject matter experts among the impacted business lines, business analysts, SME’s, and Finance management.
  • Works with the Operations Manager responsible for training to ensure that the documentation products conform to the client’s standards.   

Qualified Candidates will have:
  • A self starters that can execute their workload with minimal direction from the Client
  • Well versed in technical writing methodology and tools, as well as application development along with database, hardware, software, communications and other emerging technologies
  • Experienced in large, complex, enterprise wide applications with integration points to other applications and environments
  • Able to function in a team environment and put the success of the project and project team ahead of any personal goals and accomplishments
  • An excellent verbal and written communicator comfortable communicating with and dealing with peers, business users, management, vendors and suppliers
  • Able to react with a level of urgency that is appropriate when risks and issues arise, continue to work the risk/issue to closure or escalate if needed
  • A Bachelor degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience. 
  • Demonstrated intermediate writing, editing and technical ability. 
  • Requires an intermediate knowledge of desktop publishing and computerized word processing packages including MS Word. 
  • Working knowledge of MS Visio, including Adobe Acrobat.  Must have proficient keyboard skills. 
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, excellent time management skills. 
  • The ability to translate software functions into User Guide format for business understanding.  Can work independently on assigned scope with minimal oversight.
