About the Job

Our client has a requirement for a Bilingual Junior Programmer/BSA for a 1 Year Contract to Hire opportunity.  The position is located in Ottawa, ON.

Role

This candidate will work with the various business and technology partners, and applicable vendors, throughout the various project phases, including initiation, concept, analysis, development, testing and implementation.

The primary focus for this role is to perform end user programming related to the creation/composition and development of customer collateral pieces within the Thunderhead Now system (CMS system). The new CMS system will now be managed locally instead of in the USA. Candidates will be responsible to do coding related to creation of letters & disclosures.

Ideal candidates will be recent University graduates with a Computer Science degree with 3 years relevant experience.  

Responsibilities

• Candidate will define correspondence templates and the rules that are used to populate the templates with attributes from the bank’s computer systems.
• Support and/or lead implementation and post-implementation activities (e.g. Deployment, Contingency Planning, First Occurrence Verification, Incident Management)
• Actively participate in testing activities to validate that results support the proposed solution and satisfy the business requirements.
• Actively communicate and works effectively with partners (internal and external) to ensure that business risks, impacts and constraints related to the technical solution(s) are identified and mitigated.
• The chosen candidate must be a mature individual who is able to work with minimal supervision, contribute to a positive work environment, and manage multiple assignments with competing priorities successfully.
• May assist in new hire training and cross training of the various teams within MBNA Card Product Operations

Requirements or Qualifications

• 3 years Application Development experience
• 3 years Java experience
• 3 years HTML experience
• Business Analysis experience
• Content Management System (CMS) knowledge
• University Degree or College Diploma in computer science is an asset
• Ability to work on-call, off hours and occasionally on weekends during testing phase
• Ability to translate business rules into logic used to define and populate templates.
• Basic knowledge of programming logic.
• Strong logical and analytical problem solving skills.
• General knowledge of Bank/Financial customer correspondence.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to develop strong relationships with peers, internal and external customers and IT partners.
• Superior time management skills.
• Flexibility to adapt and manage within a dynamic environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a larger team.
