Job Description

Our Federal Government client is looking for an intermediate

(Level 2) System Administrator to support the development teams by configuring various environments, troubleshooting hardware issues and liaising within the department to ensure optimal performance of servers and virtual environments. They will be expected to install, monitor, upgrade and maintain various operating systems, including Linux, and multiple virtual machines. This is a contract opportunity located in Ottawa.

Qualified Candidates will have:

• A valid Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance
• Minimum of 5 years experience within the last 10 years, performing all of the following activities:
• Install, monitor, upgrade and maintain operating systems and software.
• Troubleshoot and resolve** technical problems related to the performance of operating systems, hardware and software
• 2 years experience within the last 5 years, installing and maintaining a Linux or UNIX operating system on a server and deploying a production application on the operating system.
• Minimum of 2 years experience, within the last 5 years, creating and maintaining scripts using Shell, Bash or PERL scripting language
• 5 years recent experience deploying applications to Development, System Testing, User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Production Environments
• Over 2 years recent experience, within the last 5 years, building and maintaining Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) servers
• Experience identifying, diagnosing and resolving performance issues* (not related to adding RAM or processors) in a Multi-tiered Environment
• Experience in implementing Oracle backup and recovery, and system disaster recovery
• 2 or more projects installing, configuring and monitoring Oracle 10g+ databases
• Experience, within the last 5 years, developing applications or tools in Perl, .Net, Java or PHP to resolve operational issues
• Over 1 year of experience within the last 5 years using the following technologies:
• VMWare
• JAVA
• PHP
• Net
• Oracle
• MySQL
• Apache
• WebLogic
• Tomcat
• XML
