Job Description

Our client has a requirement for a SUN Solaris System Administrator on a 6-month contract. The opportunity is located in Toronto.

The SUN Solaris Systems Administrator is accountable for the implementation, maintenance, and support of server hardware, operation systems, and other infrastructure components. This individual provides guidance and participates in the installation, configuration, and upgrade of application code. The role includes analysis, identification and resolution of complex problems and on-call duties for supported environments when applicable.

Requirements or Qualifications

• Strong technical skills and experience with:
• SUN Solaris/SunOS
• Unix
• Maturity and adaptability – someone who can easily integrate into the team dynamics as well as the processes
• Someone who can work independently with minimal supervision
• Someone who can handle multiple projects /initiatives simultaneously
• This individual needs to be able to handle a high demand environment

Knowledge

• Possesses a university degree/college diploma in Computer Science or equivalent work experience, and/or 5 to 7 years experience in Banking applications or technical support environment
• Demonstrates solid knowledge of supported operating systems (SUN Solaris, IBM AIX, Linux)
• Displays sound knowledge of infrastructure applications (Windows SharePoint/Portal Services, Lotus Domino, IIS, MQ Services, Websphere)
• Contains applied knowledge of ITIL processes including Problem and Change Management, and Configuration and Release Management
