Job Description
Our client has a requirement for an Enterprise Portfolio Manager - Strategic Initiatives for a 3-month contract opportunity.  The position is located in Toronto.

The Enterprise Portfolio Manager - Strategic Initiatives will be responsible for managing the firm's portfolio of programs and projects.

This role includes:
  • Developing the standards and frameworks for managing the portfolio at the enterprise level
  • Participating in annual planning to understand the executive strategy and firm priorities for the year and reporting metrics at the enterprise portfolio level
  • Reporting to the Director of Enterprise Portfolio and Program Management, the Enterprise Portfolio Manager - Strategic Initiatives will work to ensure the all initiatives are captured in the enterprise portfolio reports and aligned with the firm's strategic direction.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities include:
  • Refinement and management of enterprise portfolio processes as they relate to strategic initiatives
  • Provide mentoring to Leads and Program/Project Managers
  • Creation and maintenance of the Enterprise Portfolio Strategic Dashboard
  • Liaise with all channels that may request new initiatives  (Portfolio Managers, Business Portfolio Leads, Program Managers)to ensure all new enterprise portfolio components are:
    • Mapped to the correct program
    • Managed within the correct portfolio
    • Correctly linked to any other related components in the enterprise portfolio
  • Awareness of all change requests to ensure there is no duplication of effort between components
  • Ongoing refinement of the Enterprise Strategic Portfolio Map
  • Develop a deep understanding of enterprise and service/business group strategies in order to understand priorities within current project portfolio
  • Responsible for gathering and analysis of performance metrics from portfolios, programs and projects
  • Identification of enterprise portfolio level risks
  • Responsible for ongoing refinement of enterprise business case tools and process:
    • Manage and coordinating the business case life cycle
    • Review of both initial and refined business cases, providing feedback prior to being presented to enterprise governance
    • Implement process to compare estimated to realized financial estimations and infer recommendations
    • Create and facilitate annual review of (large) implemented solutions to ensure realized values are being correctly captured

Requirements or Qualifications:
  • Completed university degree
  • Extensive knowledge of Portfolio/Program/Project Management disciplines as it relates to strategic enterprise initiatives
  • Five (5) or more years in business strategy, and/or managing projects/ programs
  • Two (2) years experience in Portfolio Management (eg: managing and prioritizing initiatives to implement business strategy)
  • Experience interacting with senior management
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with all levels of management and staff
  • Experience working with a matrix organization, and effective consensus building skills
  • Demonstrates strong  influencing skills
  • Excellent analytical, interpretive and problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal, written communications skills
  • Experience working in a professional services firm managing corporate strategic initiatives would be an asset
