Our client has a requirement for an Software Engineer for a 6 Month Contract opportunity.  The position is located in Mississauga, ON.

Role

The Credit Systems Delivery group is seeking an experienced IT Specialist Solution Designer to join our Design team, providing both Solution Design and Project Technical Leadership expertise for the development and support of the following host applications; CreditLink (CLK), CBL, Customer Management Triad (CMT) and CAP. This role also entails involvement in project planning, preliminary design/estimations, overall design & implementation guidance, process improvements, and training/mentoring as necessary. We are currently seeking a designer not a programmer.

Responsibilities

• Performing High Level Application Design 
• Performing Detailed Application Design 
• Define development specifications and identify system modifications required to meet performance objectives
• Ensure design has traceability to business requirements 
• Advise and provide expert knowledge on the technical feasibility of the proposed deliverables 
• Identify and address application and data issues and cross-capability and cross-release issues that affect application integrity
• Work with Developers to ensure that the detailed technical design is fully understood and the development initiatives are in line with the intended design 
• In conjunction with the Solution Architect, assist the Application Owner and Application Manager by providing effort estimates for new projects and initiatives 
• Comply with the system development life cycle (SDLC) and project management methodology (PMLC) 
• Consult on development of the System Requirements Specification (SRS) with Business Analysts. 
• Provide technical leadership during the life of a project/initiative 
• Review application and technical design deliverables throughout development to ensure quality and requirement traceability 
• Lead and conduct code reviews to ensure quality, standards compliance, reusability and ease of maintenance 

Skills and Qualifications

• Cobol* 5 yrs 
• JCL* 5 yrs 
• Host application design and development* 5 years
• Expert knowledge of the host mainframe technical environment / tools (ex. COBOL, DB2, IMS, JCL, SAS, other mainframe tools) is required 
• Communication Skills:
• Excellent oral & written – will be client facing 
• CA7 2yrs 
• IBM IMS 
• DB2 
• Advanced to Expert knowledge of the application design and development tools and methodologies (e.g. RDz, Endevor, Netron) 
• Cobol programming how to write online batch program 
• Knowledge of CreditLink, CBL, CMT and/or CAP would be a definite asset. 

Specific Educational Requirements/Accreditations 

• University/ college degree or equivalent work experience 

Other Qualifications/Skills/Experience

• Ability to quickly learn complex systems 
• Effective time and task management skills, including the ability to manage concurrent deliverables 
• Ability to act as a lead technical development expert and subject matter expert for a business application and/or a specific technology 
• Ability to code, debug, research, analyze and problem-solve development issues
