Job Description

Our client has a requirement for Business Analyst for an 8-month contract opportunity.  The position is located in Burnaby, BC.

Role

• The BA will work with the IT Business Services Manager and IT Business Partners as the key support for facilitating the movement of IT projects from the initial idea stage to project delivery.
• The individual will gather business requirements, understand and document process implications, identify possible solutions, create the business case and justification documentation required for business and IT approval.
• Once the project is approved, the business analyst will facilitate the transition from planning to project delivery and stay abreast of the progress where appropriate.

Other responsibilities include

• Create technology investment justification documentation such as business cases, in accordance with standards and IT demand management processes;
• Work with business users to gather business requirements through discussions, interviews;
• Conduct and facilitate interviews and workshops to gather and validate information and deliverables;
• Use  standards and templates in the development of the process and requirements deliverables; review and obtain approval where required;
• Prepare as-is and to-be process documentation to support requirements and process analysis and to clarify and describe customer business requirements;
• Further develop business process design documentation (inputs, outputs, triggers, business rules, metrics, etc.);
• Analyze business and process requirements and design
• Work with technology resources to determine technology requirements, as well as design and solution options;
• Prepare documentation and review and be prepared to add detailed commentary to questions from peers as support to the IT Business Partner;
• Assist in quantifying technology costs and business benefits through discussions with business and technology resources;
• Assist in moving the project from planning stage to project delivery by providing documentation and communicating requirements;
• Be familiar with IT project portfolio and portfolio management processes and tools;

Requirements or Qualifications

• University degree in computer Science, or a related field ( post-graduate degree is preferred)
• 7-10 years of business management experience
• 5 years of Business Analyst experience such as requirements gathering, process analysis, and IT business case creation
• Basic knowledge of IT and ERP systems
• Outstanding communication skills (verbal and written)
• Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle
• Electrical utility knowledge
• Proficiency in MS Office and SharePoint
• Interpersonal skills: ability to establish confidence, rapport and foster cooperative relationships with clients and coworkers;

Additional Skills/Qualifications

• Knowledge of SAP CIS system
• Project Management experience or designation
