Role

We are currently seeking a Cloud Architect to lead and drive key a IT initiative involving Google APIs, Google Apps, Cloud middleware services, and SAP backend services. This position will provide technical leadership to Web Application development teams including setting technical strategies/roadmaps, researching and prototyping emerging technologies, advising junior staffs, cultivating technical excellence, and promoting best practices.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualizing, planning, designing, and implementing a complete and integrated information technology solution for the entire initiative and technical leadership in the areas of Google Cloud Infrastructure and mobile application development. This Subject Matter Expert (SME) will support Google cloud strategy and roadmap development from a mission and technical perspective including identification of potential obstacles and solutions regarding the use of Google App Engine cloud computing in the client’s environment.
• The successful candidate will work with the project team to provide a clear direction that will promote the sharing of information.
• The successful candidate must project a professional demeanor, utilizing oral and written communication skills of the highest quality. Interpersonal skills are extremely important, as this position requires working with a senior professional staff, high-level leadership within multiple organizations, and industry experts as required.
• The successful candidate must be self-motivated, flexible, and willing to take the initiative on tasks supporting the technical and project leadership.

The primary responsibilities include:

• Define Cloud Computing IT capabilities to support mission and business needs
• Define and provide a standard framework and technology roadmap for moving a Pilot architecture into a sustainable operational model, this effort will include defining a standard stack for use in cloud migration
• Create policies that will guide the IC in implementing Clouds that are standards based, interoperable, and will support enterprise core services
• Guide technical architecture for client's cloud Web Application Development Initiative that addresses security, reliability, availability, capacity, latency, and other non-functional concerns
• Work with team's project managers and SMEs to determine product roadmaps/schedules
• Define and plan the integration of the various Cloud solution components (IaaS/PaaS/SaaS) into the overall solution
• Define and plan integrations between Google App Engine, cloud tools, and client's existing backend SAP infrastructure
• Develops the Service Responsibility Matrix for supporting this cloud mobile web app development
• Drafts reports, correspondence, white papers, briefing charts and other documents related to this Cloud Computing Initiative
•  Demonstrates advanced problem solving, decision making, and functional knowledge

Requirements or Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands-on experience in at least two IT disciplines (such as technical architecture, solution architecture, network/infrastructure design, system administration/design, application design/development, middleware designs, etc.) in a heterogeneous environment
• Demonstrated track record of leading high-performance teams toward the successful attainment of challenging goals
• Ability to balance the long-term (or *big picture*) and short-term implications of individual decisions
• Demonstrated reputation for being respected as a leader, influential in the organization, and a team player
• Ability to remain neutral toward technology, vendor and product choices, as well as to be more interested in results than in personal preferences
• Expert understanding of the broader impact of work efforts across architectural system components, critical business processes and applications.
• Ability to determine project strategy and scope, lead business system analysis and designs, and develop realistic estimates and quotations for IT services.
• Advocate and enforce adoption of architecture standards such as technical design patterns and canonical data models
• Strong experience in different middleware technologies as well as IaaS/PaaS/SaaS and/or cloud computing, including both open source and proprietary technologies.
• Strong experience in Google App Server solution components
• Ability to architect, manage and implement scalable, high-performance infrastructure to support sophisticated enterprise systems.
• Requires interpersonal skills in order to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at all levels in the organization.
• Must be self-motivated, work independently or as part of a team, able to learn quickly, meet deadlines and demonstrate advanced problem solving and analytical skills.
• Top level knowledge of  Java web application development of mobile solutions using 2 or more of the following: open-source based JEE frameworks, iOS SDK, Android SDK, HTML5 / Javascript
• Knowledge and/or experience in web applications, web programming language and object oriented programming concepts as they apply to mobile and/or cloud computing
• Ability to work in dynamic environment with competing priorities, a team player comfortable with working across other groups and collaborating with customers, stakeholders, technologists, and management.

• Ability to solve complex problems with innovative and elegant designs and deliver robust functionality on time.
